Kalis officially decommits from OSU

Five star tackle Kyle Kalis has decommitted from Ohio State. Story on Scout.com.

BOOM!

I'm excited more as a Michigan fan, than as an OSU hater.  These kids hate letting people down, and understandably so, so lets try to downplay the OSU aspect and cheer the potential of getting a 5*.  Clearly, this was a tough decision for Kyle.

Also see statement from Tom VH below.

I am simply beaming right now.   I get the sense that another crack in the OSU dam has formed, and I'm just waiting for the NCAA rulings to deal the final blow that'll burst the whole thing.

He would never go there. Aren't their two primary RBs both sophomores this year? That would be stupid.

Edit: Sorry, Baker and Caper will be juniors, and Bell a sophomore.  I guess it makes a little more sense.

Go back and look at the rosters of the great Bo, Mo and Lloyd teams.  They were dominated by kids from Ohio.  I live here (unfortunately) and I can tell you without question that if a kid has any athletic talent.....he plays football.   Just like if a kid has any athletic talent in Michigan they play basketball.  Same pool of kids...just different sport emphasis.

If we can actually open Ohio back up again watch out.

Maybe....but if you look at D1 rosters for football and basketball you'll notice real quick that Ohio has a disproportionate share of football players and Michigan has an equally disproportionate share of basketball players.  And our rosters used to look as Ohio-heavy as theirs did.

Where did our last two heisman trophy winners play high school ball?

Hint...not Michigan.

If Kalis commits this weekend its gonna be a long week for my Buckeye slappy co-worker. He tried to shrug off the Tressel resignation but the establishment is crumbling from the inside out

I also have a co-worker who is a diehard tsio fan and he acted like this fallout wasn't gonna have any effect on recruiting. And now that it's starting to happen he pretends that he doesn't even follow recruiting and people who do are idiots. That's tsio fans for you

CANT WAIT for Sam Well's recruiting roundup tomorrow morning on WTKA.  I hope he can give some additional insights into Kalis, Dunn, and it's been awhile since we've heard anything on Burbridge.

Haven't caught Rec Roundup in a while, or not since the podcasts went jenky (though I believe they're back up?) Anyhooz, I hereby retract my uninformed snark and will just tend to the perma grin this OSU misery causes me ... it's kind of  like Viagra: "if it last more than five weeks, consult your doctor ... "

Some of the o lineman will not want to come here since there are so many top prospects looking at us.  Assuming we get commits from them before we run out of room.

Edit: then agianwe only will take another three so it probably won't be an issue.  Its not like we can get them all anway.  Disregard my previous statement please.

The part that gets me, which seems to be a theme among these message board posters, is that the '11 class are true Buckeyes who are sticking with the program and making an honorable sacrifice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they sign their LOIs before this became a big mess and were thus stuck with it whether they liked it or not?

If any of the OSU commits wants a peek at the kind of risk they're taking by sticking with OSU, look no further than Lavell Blanchard.  Lavell is one of my favorite Wolverines of all time, but he's kind of a tragic figure.  The guy was the Gatorade Player of the Year (part of an unbelievably elite group with that honor), and I think the only thing that kept him from a long NBA career was his loyalty to the sinking ship that was Michigan basketball in the Martin scandal wake.

I always thought that Lavell deserved better, and I hope the Brionte Dunns of the world understand that they're taking an unbelievable risk if they stick with OSU right now.

Thanks for the reminder about Lavell.  If I am remembering correctly, he is the basketball player who grew up in Ann Arbor (I think on white street, within a few blocks of the Athletic campus), went to Pioneer, and then suffered under the probation period and Brian Ellerbee.  My in-laws used to park their car at his parents house for each football game.  I always wondered what happened to Lavell.

Um, I wonder how Tony Starx knows this if he didn't do the thing he's making fun of...

"Bodies" from Drowning Pool: "let the bodies hit the floor..."

It appears as though the recruiting class exodus from Columbus has officially begun.  It couldn't happen to a nicer school.

"This sucks because it obviously means that he's drinking the "restoring Michigan" koolaid while they're on the upswing and "Ohio State is going to somehow just drop off the competitive landscape despite the fact that their second string could beat most Big Ten teams including scUM" koolaid. What will be interesting is to see how the recruits react if we go 10-2 and blast scUM. I have no doubt that Fickell that will try to hang 60 on em."

Sheesh, talk about scarlet colored glasses.
