Justice Hayes moving up decision

Tom had already let us know via twitter that Justice is in town this weekend.  Rivals $ has a post giving a little more info on that trip.  The big news is he says he would have already committed to Michigan if he thought that Coach Rod and the team had turned things around.  He says ND has more safety at the coach position, and it made it sound like it was between those two right now.  He gives lip service to the other teams, such as saying MSU may be tops in the big ten, but who does he think he is kidding.  We all know that will never happen.

Reason for trip to Michigan - "I haven't been there in a couple months, so I thought it would be good for me to get there again, just to see where my head's at and try to get things placed in the right spot,"

Timeline -  "I'm getting to the point where I might be getting ready to make my decision pretty soon, so I probably want to take one or two more."  He goes on to explain that he wants to move the timeline up, originally after the season, to get rid of all the pressure and calls, as well as to make sure there are scholarships available for him.

In the Running - Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Iowa and Northwestern, but will be shortening it soon.

Justice (#5 All Purpose, 4 stars) is a big time recruit with a lot of the same tools of Dee (#2 All Purpose, 4 stars).  I would love us to land both, but we NEED at least one to have that 4.4 breakaway back.

Also as a side note, I think this is the big reason I'm all in for Rich Rodriguez.  This HAS to begin to work.  If we bring in another coach that plays a different offense type, we may have to restart this whole 3 years of rebuilding, to get the right players for the new model.  We need Rodriguez to succeed.

Any comparison of he and D. Hart as players? Would one fit better than the other?

It is a good question, and there may be people that have seen more of Justice since he is MI, but when I've looked at video they are both real close.  Both are Rivals 100 ballers, both catch out of the backfield, both have sub 4.5 speed, both are similar builds.  Dee Hart is a little higher regarded/ranked, may be a little more explosive according to reviews of the two, but both are lightening quick, and big time play makers.  Michigan will get a good get either way.  Attached is some Youtube video to review first hand, and to let you decide.

This interview basically tells me that he is a Notre Dame lock. I like that he tried to be more diplomatic about Michigan than he has been in previous interviews, but it is pretty obvious that he knows he's a "Plan B" guy for us. I mean, Fred Jackson was the only coach in town for his visit.........

But Rich Rodriguez is on vacation right now, and this kid can visit at any time since he is in MI, so I don't think it was a slight.  I think we could/would find room for both kids on the roster, though Dee is most likely the preferred pickup.

Rivals also had an article this week showing how in recent seasons, even Carr area where we started the season with 14 scholarships and ended up with 23 and 22 commits.  Because of injuries and attrition this is pretty common so I wouldn't be surprised to see our 16 turn into 22-24.  That said you may still be right, but I look at TCU where there entire LB core last year was made of RB, and think that is a position, that if you are skilled can translate into so many things, so bring on the athletes.

It would be hard to turn down both if they both want to come, but we have more pressing needs on defense. I also think Hart is a notch above Justice. He reminds me of Adrian Peterson (Okla.) and can picture him holding a Heisman.

Care to say more? No offense, but it is a bit annoying when someone makes a demonstrative statements like this and doesn't say anything more  - especially when that person is a fan from another team who typically has some insight to add. If it's just a gut feeling  - say so. If it is based on some insight, enlighten us. Dont go through the self-serving motions of making someone respond begging you for your insight (as I just did).

This is a fair criticisim.  I have no clue as to why you spend as much time on this board as you do and as often.  As long as you post objective well thought statements I tolerate the taste of vomit your avatar provokes.  Being you are so avid an ND fan that you insist on your brand offending us all like the smell of an unwashed Haitian cab driver in the least please drive your cab well and continue to post quality content that remains objective and intelligently supported.  Or pull your cab into ND Nation and post there.

You know I don't mind having you here, but there's less of a tolerance for these types of statements from Notre Dame fans, as opposed to various Michigan fans here.

Not to knock anything off Rodriguez, and I'm not saying that they're going to be a bad team, but if they don't meet the expectations that the A.D. is looking for, he potentially won't be there when I get there. I wouldn't know what to do from there, so I wouldn't want to put myself in that situation.

It's just definitely something that I need to think about. Other than that, Michigan is hands down the best for me, I think. Honestly, if they were doing real well and having success, I probably would have committed to Michigan already. Unfortunately it hasn't worked that way, but it's just something that I need to think about.

If the staff wants him they have to go get him.  If he is plan b kid (i have views on this) is he the top plan b kid?  Or is he 1 of 3 or 4 plan b kids?

If he is the 2nd best rb you are after and dee hart isn't close to commiting then you ask yourself do I recruit Hayes hard to land his commitment or do I stay on Dee Hart and be ready to go after other plan b kids if Hayes goes to nd and Hart ultimately goes elsewhere.....

Even if he commits to nd or elsewhere soon, I bet its soft and if M wins early he ends up blue. I think the coaches would take two rbs. I read the quote to mean that he is leaning to M but just needs some reassurence. Think ash from last year near signing day.

One (or more) of these running backs is going to step up.  Regardless, we have 6 scholarship tailbacks and only one will be a senior in 2011 (Shaw).  Hart would give us 7.  Hayes would give us 8.  Going eight-deep at a position that ideally only plays 2 or 3 guys a game is overkill.  In recent memory, Michigan has never had 8 scholarship tailbacks.  That probably hasn't happened since the 85-scholarship limit was instituted.  On top of that, guys like Gallon and Terrence Robinson could pick up a couple carries here or there, too.

I don't think he's a bad player, but he reminds me of Mike Shaw with a little less speed.  I'd rather have a big, powerful guy like Minor/Hopkins/Cox or a small-ish, quick-cutting guy like Toussaint/Demetrius Hart.

ND can have him in my uneducated opinion. I have seen Justice play in person quite a few times, and I am with Magnus, with a not all that impressed opinion of him. I have always been surprised he was rated so high. He was terrible in Grand Blanc's playoff game last year. He is very easy to gameplan for. However, I am not a scout, or a coach, so it is an uneducated opinion. I am just basing it having seen guys like Charles Rogers, Arnett, and Woodley play in person while they in H.S years. They were/are special type players, and it's easy to see, and Justice isn't close to being in their league.

There is silver lining with Hayes likely pledging for the Domers soon.

If Michigan can show that it is beginning to trend upwards, and RR gets of the "hot seat" that everybody seems to think he's on, Hayes will see what he wants to see out of Michigan, and we know our coaches recruit till the bell, even if he's "committed" to ND.

Nothing would be sweeter than saying "welcome to the rivalry" than stealing a coveted RB from Kelly.
