Per Justice Hayes' twitter account, we have more commit(s) on the way.
We bout to pick up some more commits. :)

Yeah I saw that earlier too. Wonder who he is talking about.
We bout to find out!

that Sam Webb was referring to yesterday, I think the consensus guesses are Kris Frost and Raymon Taylor.
I think Bryant would be another candidate.
I'll take all three and add in Zettel.
My dad is visiting from West Branch. He coached football and basketball at Ogemaw for years. Yesterday we talked about Zettel and how he would fit on the D. I was surprised to hear that the coaches up there believe young Zettel may go with PSU if RR is gone. Its just info.
It's just hard for me to figure out why Zettel is waiting for the RR decision. RR was the HC for the three statistically worst defenses in the 100+ year history of Michigan football (and the 2008 team had some talent). Is Zettel really waiting for that?
I can understand some of the offensive players basing their decision on RR (especially Hart) but the guys on the defensive side of the ball should come to Michigan because they want to, regardless of who the coach is. C'mon Zettel.....sign up!
A coaching transition is also a major overhaul for a program, it's like hitting the reset button again. I think Zettel wants to become a part of a team that has been slowly improving rather than join another transition team.
Hayes isn't Sam Webb or a coach. He has no idea who Sam Webb is referring to and I highly doubt he knows much about any other recruits that the coaches are going after except for the ones he knows personally. Coaches don't share their recruiting information with all of their recruits unless it will directly help them land a specific recruit. My guess is, if someone is thinking of committing and Hayes knows about it, it's someone he knows personally and is close with. This would probably mean Zettel and, even way more unlikely, Arnett. I can't think of anyone else he is close with.
Give him his book.
Yeah man, give him his book. Books aren't cheap these days...
Whose got the book?
Monae will not comment on the status of the book until January 1st. Stop asking.
But, I thought that DB not making a declaration for RR was killing our recruiting????
Anyone thinking that David Brandon isn't hurting recruiting right now just simply isn't paying attention. Ok, we are getting a couple of recruits. That's nothing compared to the talent or the possibilities that were there before this whole situation arose.
but it's surely not helping recruiting.
Neither would firing a coach, then waiting 5 weeks to announce his replacement.
we just, I dunno, not fire a coach after 3 years?
I don't think DB will fire RR. I think the reason for following what he said he would do ("assess progress at the end of the season") is also designed to reassure alumni that may not be convinced about Rodriguez that the AD hears their concerns and is taking them seriously. I prefer this to the glib "public votes of confidence" most ADs make that reveal that the coach is on shaky ground indeed- and are often followed by that coach being canned in a couple of months.
With a divided fan base, Brandon has to be methodical. And when he retains Rodriguez, he has to make the case to the divided fan base and let them know that he and the coaches have assessed the strengths and weaknesses and developed a plan to address the weaknesses.
What you're saying is that Brandon's plan here is a good one because it''s well-designed to optimize Brandon's appeal across different parts of the fan base?
I'm glad Brandon has such a good handle on his own PR.
I am not saying that Brandon is doing what is best for Brandon. I am saying that it is important to reunite the fan base, and that may be Brandon's motive.
Two things (and I'm aware that you're certainly not the only person voicing these opinions):
1) What, exactly, does "re-uniting the fan base"? The people who want Rodriguez to go and the people who want him to stay are not going to change their minds just because Brandon made them wait for a couple of months. What you're suggesting seems to be a unification of the fan base behind the sentiment of "at least Dave Brandon's doing his due diligence in order to make the smart move here," which sounds suspiciously like Brandon looking out for his own image.
2) What, exactly, does a unitied fan base (whatever that means) offer for the football program? I really want someone to explain this to me. It might make this message board less contentious, but what does it do for the results on the field? You know what really makes a big impact on recruits? Uncertainty from the AD regarding Rodriguez's job. I've yet to see a quote from a recruit that says, "I'm not sure about committing to school X because it seems like a lot of fans don't like coach Y," but "I'm worried that Coach Y might lose his job" sure seems to matter.
the perception of a divided fan base is out there, and when you're trying to sell your school, perception is all that matters.
Would you be more likely to pick a school in which everyone was supportive of the program? Or would you be more likely to pick a school in which there are two warring factions, and an open assault by media outlets (*cough* FREEP *cough*)?
If RR is fired at this point anymore, ill have lost a lot of faith in our program.. It will be incredibly tough to see who will end up transferring etc.. if it does happen.
After the past 3 years ive invested more interest in the program than i ever have. I would feel terrible for the kids and the rest of the team. Seems like all the players really respect RR and want him to be able to accomplish what he came here for.
Any change in coordinators wouldn't surprise me and at this point it wouldn't matter to me, but the only real fix is our defense, the next glaring problem is all the turnovers, which i hope are mostly attributed to all the young players committing the turnovers. But we do need a field goal kicker badly too
Of all the school of thought speculated upon for DB's decision process I will choose to subscribe to this one. Appeasing the traditional fan base by empathetical show dissatisfaction in his public posture lets them know 7 wins in year 3 will not be tolerated. I just hope DB ultimately appeases us who, despite 37-7, have been all in for RR from the beginning and have stomached the defense and watched the offense go from not being able to get a first down in 08 to number 6 in the nation with basically a redshirt freshman undersized qb
I don't think he should be fired, but I think he will be.
The avatar. Fantastic
In this case it is DB as in "Da-freakin Book"
name. Hope he is right. Trying to think who we have offered that he would be referring to? Any thoughts???
Keep rocking Justice. Appreciate the recruiting efforts...
K-Frost and T-Zettel. Throw in a little Lyons and maybe some Flowers or a Taylor and you have yourself a good finish.
that's what she said?
Local-ish guys Justice may know...
Could it be getting Frosty in Michigan???
His twitter is pretty entertaining. He really seems to love Michigan. It's exciting to have someone like that coming here, especially with his ability.
If he loved Michigan so much why did he commit to ND before the season despite saying he wanted to see how some teams did?
You want to question Roy Roundtree's loyalty too?
Roy was more fitted to RR's offense and that made the choice easy, better school with an offense that now suited him. All reports on Justice referred to him not getting enough love on his official visit at ND as the reason for the decommit. My question was based on his original intention to see how both teams did, but then committing to ND before the season even began. Therefore questioning his true "love" of Michigan as the poster I was responding to claimed. I'm glad he's aboard and hope he continues recruiting for us and has a great career.
... are you my clone?
because he hadn't yet tasted the magical properties of Rich Rod's snakeoil.
resisting Rich Rod's snake-oil is inconceivable!
But I do not think it means what you think it means.
Slow to act impossible to counteract
Which is sort of the only thing you need to say about anything any recruit every says or does....
I could see several guys committing on the level of Dee Hart (soft verbal . . . I'm coming to Michigan, but I reserve the right to change my mind if RR is gone.)
Maybe these are silent commits and once RR is kept as coach, these guys all commit at the same time. Ok, I am stretching again.
there are 2 silent commits at the moment.
to whom do you commit?
Silent Commiter: I hereby commit to the University of Michigan.
Empty Room: .................................................
If you killed a Mime in a forest would anyone care?
If you killed a mime anywhere would anyone care?
Two is the number that I have confirmed so far.
Happy New Year to MGoBlog
Us = kids rummaging through closets and the basement desperately searching for the christmas presents they KNOW are hidden in there, unable to wait the few measly days so they can find out when they're supposed to.
Could it be Rawls as well. I hope he qualifies.
i wonder, if dee sticks, whether we still take rawls.
i would think so. They are different kind of RB's.
yes rawls either way. talent and potential that you can't pass up...
If he is waaaay behind on Countess than we have problems. That made me laugh. I don't know much about twitter, but can you look through his page to find out if any of the aforementioned recruits are friends???
I'm sure a lot of our potential commits know each other from camps, visits, etc. Plus, it's not that hard for them to get in touch through Facebook or Twitter. Hopefully Justice is doing some recruiting for us.
Justice Hayes has gone from calling us a sinking ship as a ND commit to one of our better recruiters. People are allowed to have a change of heart. I like his attitude and hopefully it pays off.
He did go to M practice over the weekend - tweeted on Saturday.
My guess is he heard/saw the info then.
He's totally behind. I hacked his c drive and found out the two recruits are D Hart from decommit #1 and D Hart from decommit #2.
will commit soon. Just my guess. You wonder whether some recruits would rather commit now rather than having a potential new coach express lesser interest. Not applicable for guys like Frost, Bryant, Zettel. But maybe some other guys-- basically to get in the door now.
I'm starting to feel like a kid getting excited about Christmas.
I totally forgot about this video. Great find and post.
That video brings me back to my childhood. Replace the N64 with Sega Genesis or a big Lego set, and I had the same reaction on Christmas morning. God I miss being a kid.
Sorry to go Grinch, but that video is the most effective birth control I've seen in years. I'm pretty sure I was super jacked when we got our NES back in the day, but I know I didn't burst the eardrums and capillaries of those around me with my ridiculous screams.
It's gotta be Raymon Taylor,if I'm not mistaken the Michigan offer was his "dream" offer
Hayes said more commits, plural. I hope he's right. It'd be nice to get Zettel and/or Frost in the fold in addition to Taylor.
Merry Xmas Mgoblog
I gotta finish this essay next hour
We watchin my cousin vinny
At least he's managing his time. Important for a college athlete.
He's not in college yet.
That's why he needs to finish his essay.
I actually noticed the same thing, and was wondering if maybe the essay was on My Cousin Vinny. Let's hope so.
I'll give him credit for just knowing the movie My Cousin Vinny. These guys are what, '92, '93 birth years? That movie is a riot.
"I bought a suit. You seen it. Now it's covered in mud. This town doesn't have a one hour cleaner so I had to buy a new suit, except the only store you could buy a new suit in has got the flu. Got that? The whole store got the flu so I had to get this in a second hand store. So it's either wear the leather jacket which I know you hate, or this. So I wore this ridiculous thing for you."
doesn't mean he doesn't have TBS.
He has the passion of the newly converted. He is obviously working the phones and the other guys. Love it.
It is nice to have coaches that are great recruiters, but having players/commits that are great recruiters is how you get top 10 recruiting classes.
I love that recruits is plural! "Justice" is being served with our recruiting.
Sorry but some kind of pun is needed at all times with his name.
i look forward to 4-5 years of horrible freep headlines w/ justice's name.
"Grave inJustice" if we lose a gimme, or "Justice is Served" after he puts up 300 on OSU in our redemption game next year.
I was looking for you yesterday . . . Someone posted a note about donating to Beveled Guilt and I responded with a call to arms, asking you to respond to the post. Alas, no response came. (I did it all in good fun, for what its worth.)
Hayes is probably plugged in with fellow state of Michigan players such as Zettel, Rawls, and Taylor. My guess is it would be one or more of them but it could also be a player he has kept in touch with when Hayes made an unofficial visit to Michigan.
Outside chance it could be Tabb, although TVH says not to expect his commitment, but he's supposed to annouce this week. My hunch is it's Ramon though.
nevermind the tabb ship seems to have sailed...
Are you saying that Tabb committed already? I know Tom said he was committing this week, where are you reading that he's committed at this point?
Tabb said the coaching situation was important to him and since he's committing this week and the coaching situation hasn't been resolved yet, he's probably not coming to UM. That's probably what he means by the ship has sailed.
+1 and there was talk about the staff being interested in another sleeper TE from texas. While this does not necessarily mean we won't get Tab but still...
Assuming we close on Zettel and Taylor we'll have #s 3-7 and #12 in state on board (would have #9 if Conway qualified)
Props to RR for putting the program in a good recruiting position regardless of whether or not he's back.
And don't forget #26!
Damn right I'd care—I'd buy him a drink and congratulate him on a job well done.
Why not get a great degree from the U of M. A steal would be Cooper. But the silent ones could be zettel and frost. With Taylor now getting his dream offer. The closer I countdown to xmas, I get closer to counting down the bowl game!
Im going to go streaking through the quad
That will cause Dee Hart to go elsewhere!!!!!
Did you marry your first serious girlfriend? Most of us probably did not because of our youth and inexperience. I'm glad Justice is on our side.
EDIT: This was in response to Maize and Blue's comment re: Justice having committed to ND first and therefore may not be as committed to U of M as someone who first committed and stayed committed (hell of alot of commits..phew).
It's Kyle Brindza and Chris Chandler. Guarantee it.
Its Tabb and Raymon Taylor
I also believe its Taylor as one of the commits. Tabb is a good bet for the other. One thing I do love about RR is that he recruits high character kids with leadership skills. For example, Justice Hayes and Blake Countess. They even help us in recruiting other big names. I remember another high character kid that helped us recruit in FL last year. Ricardo Miller. These are the types of players that build championship teams: talented, leadership and work ethic. Lloyd was very good at this as well. Keep it up fellas!
Is planning to announce later in the week, choosing between 5. Anybody know if Michigan is in the 5? Another stud DB couldn't hurt!
Michigan has never really been in it for Nicholson.
Does that have anything to do with this?
I hear he's really pulling in a solid class in NCAA 2011, and after this big recruiting weekend, it seems as if a few soft commits could drop for his team.
Is Justice this year's Ricardo Miller in regards to recruiting other players?
Looks like Justice and Tom have compared notes and they both checked out the same. Justice was talking to Devin Lucien a bit ago, if he keeps this up he maybe the first recruiting coordinator/player ever. HA! Go Blue
Ricardo Miller already occupied that role.
Well I guess he won't be the first then, maybe they could be co-coordinators or could just be a one year deal. Either way good to have both of them promoting Michigan
Give these kids some reassurance.
...is one of the two. Zettel is not the other. I would say Ramon Taylor or Hakeem Flowers are your likely suspects.
I made a homonym joke.
I don't see them yet...
