Justice Hayes has been offered

Submitted by Magnus on
According to Rivals, Justice Hayes (2011 RB from Grand Blanc) has an offer. He was offered previously by MSU, among others. In my opinion, Hayes isn't the elite back I'd like us to get in 2011. I think Demetrius Hart and others are better. Considering the fact that our class will be small, we probably won't take more than one true running back.

I actually think Hayes could be a really good Big 10 RB if he adds 20 or so pounds. He is the type of player that grows on you. Demetrius Hart is definitely priority #1 though.

I don't know anything about Hayes, but I'd be proud to see a fellow Grand Blanc alum on the team. Mark Ingram also played for Grand Blanc, but he transferred to Flint SW in order to play harder opponents. As a result, Grand Blanc joined a new statewide super-conference (Kensington Lakes Activities Association) the next year and went on to dominate their division but were knocked off in the first round of the playoffs by Romeo. I'd like to believe that Hayes playing well at M would further help to legitimize Grand Blanc football.

Indeed, although I'm not sure his football career arc (didn't qualify academically for M, went to Purdue, then quit) would help to establish Grand Blanc as a producer of high-contributing FBS talent. Ingram definitely helped, though. Even if he left Grand Blanc he is the pride of the football team. I used to personally know a guy from GB who went to play for Central, was redshirted, and then decided he didn't want to play football anymore so he transferred to MSU to become a nurse. If he had stayed at CMU he would have been a senior on last year's #23 team.

Ingram did not want to play for the GB Head Coach. Many former players do not like him, present company included. (Program wont be legit while THAT coach is there, he isnt respected in the 48439 zipcode, 48502, 48507, and apparently not in the R, O ,M, E, O) Ingram wanted to play for SW Coach and former Flint SW QB, and Former UM QB Gary Lee, now Saginaw High Coach. He chose SW for many reasons, but primarily the coach. The GB coach wanted nothing to do with Ingram until AFTER he won the Heisman. Those in the know, KNOW. Ironically, #16 Steve Smith transferred from Swartz Creek to GB, back in the day. I guess turnabout was fair play.

I seem to remember Brian having said that Hayes would rather play in a pro-style attack because he believes its more concentrated on the run, leading me to believe he has never actually watched a Richrod led team play before.

Delaney was my phys. ed. teacher last semester. he's one of the biggest crackers ive ever met. hes not a great person to get along with. very very very bad social skills. Edit:i always tried to get him to tell me where he thinks justice is going, and GB lost to romeo becuase delaney focuses too much on offense. our defense was small and sucked and romeo plays a power offense and it was a rainy night. so yousee why we lost that game. that team was great offensively, but the defense was garbage

It's going to be a small class in 2011, but if we can get Hart and Hayes early I'd do it in a second. then offer 2-3 five-star caliber RBs and make room for them if they actually commit (Like Barr and Baxter this year). Otherwise, we're good at RB and we can concentrate on getting our 4 OL

The thing is, we don't lose any running backs next year. We've got Shaw, Smith, Toussaint, Cox, White, and Hopkins. Adding two running backs would give us 8 on the roster, and that's overkill. Heck, even 7 scholarship running backs is a little bit crazy.

is a joke. I played for him in '85 and '86. He thinks of himself as a offensive genius but the only thing he does is throw out routes, fades and reverses. He goes away from the running game to easily (see Romeo loss). Can't blame Ingram for leaving. The system fits Hayes very well and I think he could contribute at UM. Rimor is that Joe may be stepping down in which case GB Football could beocome a giant, the talent is there.

I'm very surprised and disagree strongly about the comments regarding coach D. I think that the Grand Blanc coaching staff is one of the tops in the state, definitely tops in the county. Coach D is the type of guy who is a true mentor to high school football players, he's not only interested in success on the field but off of it. His former players on this board bashing him remind me of the UM football players who resented Bo for making them work too hard, shame on you for disrespecting your coach and your high school team. How many coaches in this area have masterminded an offense that marched up and down the field on good opponents the last two years, not to mention playoff berths and near perfect back to back seasons. You want to talk about X's and O's, theres no better high school coach than Delaney. And no, his defense didn't "suck" this year, they were very young and inexperienced. They should be improved next year with some hard work. I played for him for two years, yeah he and coach Schramm will make you work your ass off, and they will give you tools to make you a better man. I used those tools to get through some tough times including combat and being a better military officer.

"No Better High School Coach" Thanks for sharing your opinion. I blazed off a response, then deleted it when I realized you served in the military. For that your service you get my heartfelt thank you and a pass for your comments. (To mention Bo and the GB COach in the same breath is disturbing on many levels.)

Tops in the County? State? Wow, how do you take a talent like Reggie Benton and not use him to his maximum ability? Reggie was the best defensive back in the County (I believe he was all conference as a junior) and Joe never put him on the field defensively his senior year. Ridiculous. He loves offense, it's exciting to watch but he'll never go deep in the playoffs because he loves the offense at the expense of his defense. Inevitably, the run into a team that can stuff the run and understand that Joe will not throw across the middle of the field. I have watched GB football since 1977, played for GB for two years and went on to play college ball. Joe taught me things about the game that helped me be successful in college so don't put me in the "whiner" category. He is a good person, a decent technical coach and a poor strategist. GB can do better. Joe has underachieved with the talent he has had over the years. I guess we disagree.

Delaney is no offensive guru. With the current qb(Ryan Morley) who has been starting since freshman year half the tds scored came from this little bubble screen going to Tony Jones on the right side of the field, he breaks a few tackles and is gone. Some in the red zone come from normal pass plays. The other tds come when Ryan turns around and hands it off to William McDaniels(Justice).

Bottom line: posting anonymous posts on a public board personally attacking a good man (by name) who has dedicated some twenty years to education and the local community is at the least poor taste. I don't care what your opinion is. I won't let you talk trash about one of my coaches without some push back. I'm done. Go Blue and Go Bobcats.
