Just Because POSBANG

Just kidding . I have a legitimate moment to upvote in antiquity. I have just accepted a teaching position in the Detroit metro area. It's been quite a journey for me as I had to teach two years in Nebraska. I had interviewed for several Positions this spring and summer without any offers, and my enthusiasm was becoming quite known to mankind. I'm so happy to educate the students in this great area at long last. HARBAUGH FOREVER.

My old man was a teacher for 35 years. It's one of the toughest jobs there is. I commend you. Best of luck.

Mind if I ask what grade/subject you are teaching?

Congratulations on your new job, first and foremost.

My mother spent 37 years in Romulus Schools here in Michigan (part of it as an assistant principal and director of technology, but mostly as a teacher) and although you could see the frustrations sometimes, she loved what she did and I don't think she'd ever trade those times for anything. I never knew how she did it and I don't know that I would have the patience, but many, many kudos to those in the profession.

hater that went thru the last couple Friday posbangs and negged nearly everyone.

But I just upvoted both of your posts to make up for it AND because I can identify with your post---my Polish Grandpa came over on a boat 120 years ago at age 13 with his 17-year-old brother (my great-uncle) and they both adapted on their own to a completely foreign culture and language.  My great-uncle's last child passed away at age 91 just a couple weeks ago; between talking to her and to my dad and uncles, I have a ton of admiration for them and any others who passed thru Ellis Island generations ago.

Both my mom and wife are / were teachers and both have found it to be an extremely rewarding career! Welcome to The D, so many good things are happening here; the region is definitely on the upswing... Great M-loving teachers moving to the area is just another sign of great things to come.

Congrats! I'm a teacher and my wife is hoping to land her first full time teaching position this year. It's a hard job that keeps getting harder, but it can be very rewarding at the same time. Good luck!
