Bacon's in a tough spot with things like this.  All that people really want to hear from him are rumors and predictions (and predictions mostly because they offer a veil to communicate rumors without actually saying anything about them).

But if he's not hearing anything - and he's probably not hearing much that's meaningful, even if he implies or believes otherwise - it's hard to please this crowd right now.

This kind of supports my view that nobody knows a thing, even Bacon. On the ADC front, Schlis is an academic and is not plugged into the typical sports journalism circles. As a result, the usual insiders - even Brian - are admittedly without a shred of info. Schlis is playing this very close to the vest. Which is frustrating for us, but absolutely fine.

As for the CC, Hackett is also not plugged into the traditional sports media world and is also apparently keeping this close to the vest, so there really is no publicly available information. Indeed, coming out of the world of high stakes business (and having been involved in major staffing changes), Hackett likely understands the importance of making such moves in complete privacy and out of the public eye. The less info that is out there, the better. Remember the 2007 Les Miles fiasco. The public leak of information may have prevented us from landing one of the best available coaches out there.

much credit probably because like the rest of us you are anxious for a coaching change. It could be Hackett is doing nothing and waiting to the end of the season.

My view is he is waiting because he wants reason to retain Hoke. Which means that Hoke's record and team performance to date is not enough to terminate him. The easy road for Hackett is to retain the staff and give a short extention (2-3 years) to protect the 2105 and 2016 class.

If change was going to happen they would have said so because it opens the door for possible candidates to show interest in the coaching job and could keep many of the recruits in play because they would believe a top tier coach will be coaching MIchigan in the future.

Seriously nothing major.

About the only thing I took from the hour was that Jamie Morris and Jim Harbaugh have buried the hatchet over Harbaugh's past statements about acedemics.

Morris thinks Schlissel owes an appology to all the current student athletes.

It sounds like Jon Bacon suckered you guys in again.

When are you going to learn..........

Him and Sam Webb run the exact same schtick nowadays.

The rational part of my brain knows that JUB knows absolutely nothing, offers merely his opinions based on no real information, and is basically just a big fan who has a connection to the university.

The OMG I NEED MORE INFO NOW!!! part of my brain, on the other hand, would listen to two homeless people on a street corner talking about this topic if one was wearing a Michigan hat, hoping to derive some insights to what will likely happen.

Sadly, the latter part almost always wins out.

I'm sorry did I miss the part where JUB mentioned he had some juicy new intel on the coaching/AD situation at Michigan only to not tell us anything new?

Pretty sure he didn't. Just need this season to be over to get anything new out of these scenarios ugh.

Hackett is smart.  He's bunkering down, changing cell phones, and disseminating no info for public consumption.  Neither JUB nor Brian has any info, least of all Sam and Ira.  Sam had the nerve to post on the GBW board that since he personally talked with Hoke and Hoke hasn't been advised of a dismissal, then there must not be a plan to fire him.  Really?  How obtuse are you anyway? What a moron.

It is proof once again that message boards, no matter how pretentious, are full of zealots who really do not lead interesting lives (present company NOT excluded).

I love how guys pretend to be in important meetings, and such and well, you know, my iPhone can't pick up the podcast due to me being on a conference call to Beijing and Berlin, harumph harumph--yet I can still plug in and ask for an update.

Anyway, UM knows what it will od, and who it will be.

If they don't they're stupid.

And don't bet the farm on them hiring Jim Harbaugh or hitting a home run.

The lessening of the importance of sports at UM has begun, and is permanent.

Why so angry? And indignant? I never said I was in an "important meeting" or anything like that. I am stuck at a boring ass conference that is far from important. But, I am still stuck here nonetheless and unable to listen to a podcast.

I can, however, type and sift the web on my phone (as just about all 500 other attendees are doing while the boring panel of speakers drones on).

As to our university de emphasizing sports, I hope not. And I don't think that it will happen. There are way too many people in power - including a number of regents and fans who vote for regents - that will not stand for it. Even if Schlis wanted to do so, I don't think that as a new guy, he would do so. Also, I don't read his comments re: wanting to strike a balance with academics as saying that he won't shell out $ for a top coach. Just that he might not allow for a coach with questionable academic ethics. So, most of the sec coaches may not make it. Certainly doesn't seem like this would be a problem for a Harbaugh, who excelled at Stanford and actually made comments essentially in line with Schlis.

Bacon didn't promise any juicy revelations or inside info. He just said they'd be talking about the situation. That's what talk radio is. Some of you are like six-year olds who don't get a cookie from mommy.
