Joshua Garnett update (good) *with EDIT

Submitted by sheepdog on

A certain recruiting ninja that I trust (and you do to) says that

THIS: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/joshua-garnett-update-not-good

is not true at all.

Out of respect to the paysite and the recruiting ninja, I won't say anymore. And I didn't want to post this in the other thread where it could be missed.

Do not write Garnett off just yet, we still have a good shot.

EDIT: The certain recruiting ninja also believes (in cryptic fashion) that it is between two schools: Michigan, and a school not named Michigan.  From a football standpoint, I really like our chances.  But Garnett has proved that he is putting a lot of wieght in other aspects of his choice.

From a post below, he plans on deciding around January 25 or 26.

He'll make the right decision for him, and if it is Michigan, great.  For some reason I don't worry at all about what he is doing in recruiting.  I guess it is because the antics of some of the others bring out the parent in me and scream that they need guidance.  Garnett doesn't.

I'm certain I must order incorrectly because whenever I've eaten at C-F-A, it's always been spectacularly underwhelming.  Is there some nuanced enjoyment of chicken breast sandwich on white bread bun that I'm incapable of perceiving?  I assume it's me because the restaurant seems to enjoy near universal approval.

Okay, I just had to get that off my chest.  It always occurs to me around bowl time when Chick Fil A seems at its height of popularity.

Not that I don't want them, but I'd rather have someone that truly wants to be here. If they go elsewhere, I'll wish them the best. In the meantime, I'm not going to worry about what a 16 or 17 year old thinks he is going to be doing next year. We've seen too many 4 and 5 stars fizzle and walk-ons excel to get into an uproar one way or the other.

Of all our current recruits Garnett's decision time frame is one of the later ones (January 25th/26th)  What if the class is filled up by then?  OL is still the biggest position of need at this point.  How do you think the coaches would handle that situation?  After a strong showing in the Sugar Bowl I can see a couple commitments.  Thoughts?

I'm sure they have contingency plans for almost all scenarios.  David Perkins is a good example.  The timing on the Dunn announcement made it possible for them to open up recruiting with Perkins.  If Dunn had waivered for much longer and Perkins wasn't available, I'm sure they had other options.

Knew it. There is no way someone would take two visits to UM and want to be a doctor and not think about coming here till the last second.

Guys, this poster is trustworthy. He has access to insider sources that the rest of us could only dream of having. And even then, the number of insider sources in our dreams would still be less than half in quantity, and far inferior in quality.

Ok, maybe not.

Based on everything I've read about Garnett the other school is probably Stanford. Well, you really couldn't have a much better choice of schools. Hope he goes Blue but whatever happens I hope he finds what he's looking for by the end of this process.

It's hard to blame a kid for picking Stanford (assuming that will be Josh's choice), even over a great school like Michigan. I love Michigan, am an alumnus (2000), but can't blame someone for picking Stanford, even if their mascot is.....

I said this in the other post but maybe wasn't seen by most.

I read not too long ago that Garnett ELIMINATED Stanford, and that he is likely coming to us.
