Yes, ESPN Jr 300 QB Josh Rosen is visiting Michigan right now. He decides on March 20, this visit would have to blow him away to impact him
Josh Rosen Secret Visitor Revealed
So there's a chance?
the real question is why does it matter if it's a secret or not? he's not gonna hurt UCLA's feelings if he still commits to them next Thursday
Ambient temperature in Ann Arbor?
I live in LA now. I love it. The weathers great, much better than when I lived in Michigan. Hard to argue with the weather. But, I don't play professional football.
If you want to be a pro, playing on Sundays in Green Bay, Chicago, Denver... this years Superbowl. You better learn to play in the cold. Don't hide it's cold in in November, sell that.
"Son, are you here to party and see pretty girls in sundresses, or do you want to leave here with all the tools and preparation to play in the NF fucking L?"
This would be the pretty big deal they were referring to recently...wow
Someone saw him pass out last night at the Stucchi's?
Work your magic Hoke/Nuss!
That's pretty big to get him to visit with how far it is. Wasn't he supposed to be visiting somewhere else this weekend as well?
Can't wait to hear that his announcement gets pushed back. He said he plans on announcing soon (I think the 20th)?
His top 4 is apparently Cal, UCLA, Stanford, and Michigan. It's a great sign that Michigan is the only non-CA school that he's considering, but Stanford hasn't even offered him, and the fact that he still included them on his short list indicates that he'll probably commit to Stanford if they offer him.
He told me that Michigan was third for him right now, but that's probably because Stanford hasn't offered. It's a pretty big deal that he's visiting Michigan close to his announcement date but he's still going to be very tough to drag out of California.
Jim Mora Jr seems on a very similar flight path to Harbaugh, taking UCLA places. Main question is, if you commit to UCLA will he be there for your jr and sr years - somehow I think he has designs on the NFL. But he is an exciting coach.
I would think teams are doing the same negative recruiting against Michigan...if Nussmeier does well with the offense, the chance he is here for a recruit's junior or senior year is probably less than Mora's chance.
Stanford is not going to offer him. Let's just say Shaw is not a fan of Rosen. But if Stanford did offer he would commit there.
Never expected it!
Surprised he visited. Seems a lock to commit to UCLA in a few weeks
Can't be a lock anymore since he is taking visits. Step on campus everything can change.
Wish he would have visited a few days ago when it wasn't 7 degrees
His announcement date is set for next Thursday, March 20th.
Wow! Can never hurt to have kids like him on campus
Woooow. That's huge.
He just wanted to get out of the brutal winter that Southern California is experiencing this year.
He announces next week and flies out tomorrow for a 7-on-7. 24 hour visit? This should be interesting.
I had said Rosen on my post yesterday. I believe Magnus stated it was not him.
I did say that I didn't believe it was him. I had heard that a 5-star QB from California was visiting, and the vibe I got was that it was Ricky Town (since he has more to hide as a USC commit than Rosen does as an uncommitted player).
Of course, maybe Ricky Town IS in fact on a super super secret trip to Ann Arbor and this whole Rosen thing is just a cover.
maybe you are on to something.
I just mentioned the top 3 5* QBs. But I was thinking Town since he was committed to USC and may not have wanted USC to find out about the visit.
Magnus = Very surprised right now.
The post on 247 has been deleted. Hmm.
If he comes on Friday, then we may have increased our odds by 100 times - that is, from 0.1% to 10%.
We're definitely trailing UCLA and, according to B. Brown, Cal. If the kid's flying out on his own dime, I'd say we've got more than a 10% chance. Maybe we're at 11%...
We're not 24 hours removed from a nasty winter storm when he decides to visit. Hopefully he is impressed by the visit, but I seriously doubt he is leaving Cali.
It's nice he's checking us out but does anyone else feel like he would need to push back his announcement date for us to have any chance.
Yeah, to mid-summer.
Heat wave tomorrow. In the 40's.
Heat wave tomorrow. In the 40's.
Almost 50. Phone is telling me 48 degrees.
Don't let him know you all think it's a heat wave. keep acting like it's freezing.
Shorts weather for Brady Hoke. It will show him it's all in his mind.
Hold me, TomVH
Personally I was hoping for QB Don Bosco. Though he is immobile (literally), I still can hope.
Well, apparently that cat wasn't supposed to be let out of the bag yet; Steve removed his story/article.
sam webb just indicated that the kid did NOT want this out.
Exactly. Maybe take this thread down now? Looks like the press done messed up and are backtracking.
This is the one thing that blows about covering recruiting. It's about the kids, not the reporters.
Exactly man. This isn't freakin' Watergate. Just respect the kids' wishes. Maybe it was an honest mistake or something. Wouldn't be the first time a story got published prematurely published by accident.
But the thing is.. Why tell anyone you're coming if you don't want it out there? Either Rosen's camp leaked it and then said "but don't tell anyone" which is just stupid, or someone in the fort leaked it, in which case Rosen's camp will probably be pissed at the coaches, and rightfully so.
I could also see a scenario where the Rosen camp just wanted it held until tonight or until the visit was over. They may have figured keeping it a secret was impossible but it would hold off the buzz for awhile. Sam and others knew about it days ago and articles were ready to be posted.
But again, they could have just not told anyone and after the fact told the reporters they were there last week. It's really far from impossible to keep it secret.
I talked to Brian, and it's public enough (TomVH, RIvals, MLive, etc) that we aren't spilling any beans that aren't already spread all over the floor. I did delete the tweet from one source who deleted his stuff per the kid's wishes.
Wonder why this kid wants it so secret? Glad he's visiting though.
HS DRAMA BETWEEN UCLA AND CAL.
why does it matter if people know this kid visits a school?
yea Sam Webb just said on Twitter that he would only confirm the person arrived but wouldnt give name kid explicitly said not to
Great. Now the kid hates us cuz we told everyone he was visiting...er, he told us he was...I mean, he didn't mean to tell us. Wait. No. He DID tell us but he didn't want anyone else to say he was telling us. No that's not it. He didn't want to tell Coach Nuss that we knew he was telling us.
I are confuzzled.
How am I supposed to breathe without Guinness, silly?
Now the kid can't trust us! But he should realize this is 2014 and there are no longer any secrets!
you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, there is no use in pretending this didnt fly out across the internet in about 5 minutes.
You can put tooth paste back in the tube, it's just messy and takes awhile!
I hate this. If you don't want to get murdered, you shouldn't have left your house.
you can totally get murdered inside your house though
1) never give away all your secrets
I was just about to go to bed. Now I can't sleep.
Tell them secretly that you want their secret kept secret.
HEY MOM! CAN WE GET SOME MEATLOAF?
Nuss can really sell it if he can get a kid from California who was previously not very nterested in us to come all the way out to the midwest in winter on his own dime.
I feel bad for him, but luckily for him it's not commitment that got leaked like Kaleb Ringer.
realizes it doesn't have anything to do with Michigan. No offense to Brandon (I admire your integrity with not divulging this), but he asked a bunch of people who make their money giving out scoops on recruiting to keep a secret. Odds were that someone was going to spill the beans.
WTF does this have tondo with Brandon? You know, Brandon knew a guy who knew a guy who was on that Malaysian Air flight. Think he's behind it?
Being in the recruiting coverage business. The poster was criticizing the coverage business in general, but trying not to use broad brushstrokes and criticize Brandon, who had not leaked information he was asked not to leak.
out by the beer goggles.
Kids's the top qb in the country. He's undoubtedly asked for info a dozen times a day. He and or his family probably hoped that if he gave some people the scoop on condition of being quiet and leaving them alone, they'd be quiet and leave them alone. Didn't work, but I see why they'd want it to be secret. Just didn't want the fuss.
I hope it doesn't spoil the visit too much. MLive's job is not to call and harass the kid and his family, so I hope they don't.
Screw the stars, all I am concerned about is how young does he look?
Can't imagine that his visit leaking is going to be very good for our chances. Let's hope he loves what Hoke and Nussmeier have to say and show so much that it doesn't matter
I don't think a recruit has ever been swayed one way or the other by what fans, or analysts say on recruiting sites .
It's like when people say that recruits like uniformzz. How many recruits say that they're going to attend school x because of the stripes or zigzags on their uniforms.
No request for secrecy was passed along to the normal recruiting folks from the school, or apparently from Rosen himself.
He said they could release it to one of tons close affiliates
a completely useless post to get me to 2000 MGoPoints. Ankyuberymuch.
Your reign is over. enjoy 2001.
in your general direction!
Everyone seems to have forgotten why Rosen would have wanted this visit quiet. It's because when he was offered, some crazy Michigan fan called him on the phone. At that point he was totally turned off by Michigan because of that call. You can imagine that he didn't want a bunch of crazy fans to tweet or call again and harrass him.
You have to believe Nuss had to work extra hard to turn that situation around and get a visit. For god sakes nobody better screw this up again.
That just don't get it. Why would anyone in their right mind do something sooo dumb? Maybe this "fan" just wasn't (drunk or high as a kite) or isn't (special) in his right mind. Although I have one other guess and that would be a rival fan trying to sabotage the process. Coach Nuss deserves giant size kudos for turning this kid around and help him see the light, the maise and blue light we all know and love so well. Now lets all get together and wish, pray, whatever we do, for the temps to be above 60 on his visit. Snake oil anyone? HAIL!!!
wow one day maybe I can have 2000 points too! At this rate maybe the year 2018
There were a couple pieces out there - most notably 247Sports - that said that the spike in communication between Rosen and Michigan has been relatively recent and Rosen did say that Michigan has made him a priority. Hopefully, he enjoys his visit to Michigan if nothing else, but this would be a nice add to the 2015 class, I would say.
Do you think it would help if I invited him over for Shabbat dinner? I'm world famous for my chicken soup. We also have a great recipe for gluten-free challah.
Care to share that recipe? (And yes I am serious)
The recipe is from a friend of ours, who is a great Jewish baker and recently discovered that she has a gluten intolerance. It's from a cook book called Gluten Free Baking Classics, by Annalise Roberts.
If you google it you may be able to find the recipe....or just buy the book. My friend sent me a text message with pictures of the recipe from the book, so I could email it to you, if you'd like me to do so.
Our friend also makes a tremendous gluten free hamentaschen!
(this may be a first for mgoblog...exchanging Jewish gluten-free baking recipes)
but I like to nosh.
We know. Our daughter was raised in Laguna Beach, went to Duke, worked in Manhattan for five years and is back in SoCal again. Most of her high school buddies are with her.
But there are way too many people there and the traffic is the worst in the USA.
Smart folks move back to Ann Arbor. It is a great city, but fuck these winters are long.
situations like this are basically why I hate recruiting: grown men 'sharing scopes' on what a teenager is doing...
And anyone who posted here is just as 'guilty' of sharing the information as the first person to put it out...
And if you want something to be a secret, then don't tell people...
And how is a high school recruit going to go anywhere without all these creepy ass 'recruiting' gurus knowing where he is
No reminders needed to stay the hell off your lawn! I was just admiring the lawn gnomes!
You posted here too.
yeah, I did...
kinda adds some irony to my post eh...
You guys can neg me to hell, but I am not sure why anyone would disclose a kid's name who wanted his visit to be kep quiet. This certainly cannot help him with Michigan, nor, it would seem, would it help the integrity of the party who made the informatin public. Sometimes, less is more.
A thousand apologies. I thought he would enjoy that life-sized Terrance Taylor doll, but it turns out he just thought it was creepy.
Sat next to Josh on the flight from LAX on Thursday. He indicated that he was most interested in UCLA and even a call from MSU QB coach Brad Salem. To him, Michigan was an after thought. You can take these comments to the bank.
...says the guy who signed up for an account today.
Can give to flight number and seat on Delta. He was originally assigned to a different seat but was moved next to me in the exit row because he was too tall. Mother sat behind my seat. You may not agree with the comments but it is the truth.......
Looks like Josh selected UCLA. I guess my intel was correct. Better luck next time Magnus.....
