Josh Helmholdt: Big News For a Pair of B1G Teams Tomorrow

Submitted by MichiganMan2424 on

Rivals.com Midwestern recruiting expert Josh Helmholdt just had a TomVH level cryptic tweet go out;

Josh Helmholdt @JoshHelmholdt

Hearing there could be some big news for a pair of #B1G teams tomorrow...

He then also tweeted saying it was good news.

If the mods feel like this is too vague to be worthy of a thread, go ahead and delete, but considering all the recruiting buzz around us recently, I wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with Michigan.

And even if it's not and has to nothing to do with Michigan, I think anything dealing with big news regarding B1G teams should be of interest to us.

Pretty sure he is referring to people using the dollar sign for OSU, not USC.  He's saying it isnt funny when people on here use it on Ohio State, and it isn't funny when people use it for Southern Cal.

And no, it isn't funny.  It's WAY over used, and uncreative.

Fight the team across the field

Show them
Ohio's here

(We've got the team why don't we)

Set the Earth reverberating

With a mighty cheer

RAH! RAH! RAH!

Hit them hard and see how they fall

Never let that team get the ball

Hail! Hail! The gang's all here

So let's win that old conference now!

(So let's beat that Michigan now!)

(Oh, Ohio! Oh, Ohio! Wahoo! Wahoo for Ohio!)

Maybe rival wasn't the best word, but we do have somewhat of a rivalry with them. Maybe it's not on the ND/OSU/MSU level, but we go head to head with them for recruits, we both up there in terms of College Football Royalty, and we've played them enough that it's not just some random bowl matchup

I'd say that there's a rivalry between OSU, UM, seperately and USC. The Rose Bowl implications are strongest with the B1G blue bloods, and the best traditional power in the PAC 10, to the point where any time the teams recruit head to head AND have a chance of playing each other annually, there exists a rivalry.

I am rooting for a starting RB to stay at a rival. You missed the theme of the post when you called me out for being disrespectful to rivals. I dont really consider USC to be a rival. They just piss me off because their fan base is annoying, and they get away with a lot of shit.
I'd love to see Redd stick it out with his teammates. Those who do stay will build their own personal character and hopefully be able to hold their heads up as they can rebuild pride in their program....I'm probably being Pollyanna, but that's what I hope for them.

I'm guessing you probably don't remember us consistently getting crushed by USC in the Rose Bowl.  I'm guessing the same goes for all those people who are hoping Redd goes to USC.  Why would you want Redd to go to USC, when there is a slight chance we play USC this year, and zero chance we play PSU?

Just so we're clear about this I have no issue with you using the $ in USC. I'm an SC grad. I think it's pretty trite and childish, but I don't care. I would rather Redd end up at SC and not stay at PSU for purely selfish reasons.

However, you probably shouldn't play the martyr role when in the MGoBoard FAQ Brian specifically says not to use "stupid nicknames like O$U." Message boards by their nature can devolve into a cess pit pretty quickly so by self policing things like this MGoBoard actually remains fun to read and a place for people to come without feeling like they are dealing with a bunch of hateful, ignorant 12 year olds.

If you are an M fan who happens to enjoy such a den of iniquity though I submit for your approval http://www.mlive.com/

I feel like it has nothing to do with Michigan. Green and 'Treadwell are still taking visits I thought and McQuay I think is delaying his decision, even though we were out of it as of recently.

He's just tweeted again and said that the news has to do with recruiting.  Given that he has described the news as being:  (a) good; (b) big; and (c) about recruiting, it's not a stretch to think that Michigan is one of the teams that could be involved.

While Green, McQuay and Treadwell don't seem to be imminent, it could be a 2014 guy like Ferns.

I'm calling it right now, we get McQuay. He's been told that if he commits to us he has to do it soon, and since that he's been going back and forth on making a quick decision. I think that's more than coincedence. I think he's given it a bit more thought, decided he wants to go to Michigan, and therefore decided to commit tomorrow (as he's been pushed to make a quick decision). I could also see a guy like Ferns, but that's my guess.
