Jordan Payton: Oaks Christian vs. Westlake tonight

Submitted by ken725 on

Jordan Payton and Oaks Christian (3-1) will be playing their rival Westlake (4-0) tonight @7:30 PM on FSN West.  This is a huge rivalry game with the schools being less than two miles from each other.

Whoever wins this game is most likely going to win their league this year.

The article talks about how Westlake lost last years game when the Westlake's place kicker hit the upright as time expired.  The author makes a major derp by not mentioning Jordan Payton at all (LAtimes is a terrible newspaper).

Here is also a list of 2012 kids that will be playing in the game for both sides.

I was thinking about going, but LA traffic makes me not want to do anything.

No, that is a common mistake.  I was confused last year as well.

Westlake HS is in Westlake Village near Thousand Oaks.  Harvard Westlake is about 20 miles east located in the Studio City area.

Last year's game would have been interesting to watch because Will Smith's son and Wayne Gretzky's son were both on Oaks Christian.

Do you know what school it is at? I would be interested in going to see Payton in person.

That being said, Oaks Christian is a really nice school with amazing athletic facilities. My senior year of high school I was asked to video tape our school's soccer team so I did because I was friends with the coach and I figured free travel (plus getting out of class early). One game we had was at Oaks Christian and since we didn't play until that night I got to explore the campus, and also watch their football team practice (when Jimmy Clausen and Marc Tyler were seniors). I was just shocked at how nice that school was.

"On fourth-and-goal, Jordan Payton caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Dawkins, enabling Oaks Christian to tie Westlake, 7-7. Both schools have scored on their opening possession."

I am at the game. Payton is big! He has not made any impact plays and Westlake is handling them 30-14 with 4:24 to go in the 3rd. Payton better pick it up if Oaks is going to come back.
