I can see where you guys are coming from but Oklahoma, USC and every recruiting site disagree. Before his soph. Season ankle injury he was regarded as a top 3 receiver in the class. I would give a slight edge to Payton not by much though. He's going to Cal anyway so this won't matter.

I think Payton with our staff's coaching is better than Chesson at ND or Iowa. I think Chesson with our staff's coaching is better than Payton at ND or Cal.

I really don't even care any more...our coaches know what they're doing and who they want. There is no one on the board that makes me go "huh? who?" So whoever WANTS to come to Michigan and be a part of something great...props to them.

...everyone else. Prepare to get rolled the f**k over.

kinda figured thats how the this was going to go, not a big deal, would prefer a kid that wants to be here than someone who comes here because its the best situation for him, but his heart is elsewear

Hoke poops gold. That's what I thought first with regard to the OP Subject line.

Regarding Payton, I assumed when he didn't sign a month or so back that they had cooled on Payton (and thus, he cooled on us.) I'm not surprised, nor am I disappointed.

I trust in the judgement of Hoke & Borges. Payton is a good guy, but he would probably have stayed buried on the depth chart, getting time on the Scout team. It isn't worth coming here from California just to do that.

Add another OL guy, or a DL, or a Safety, or a Tight End. Take the best possible recruits available.

Possibilities:

 • Brionte Dunn, RB
 • Wes Brown, RB
 • Jehu Chesson, WR
 • Monty Madaris, WR
 • Sam Grant, TE
 • Taylor McNamara, TE
 • Jordan Diamond, OL
 • Zach Banner, OL
 • Josh Garnett, OL
 • Alex Kozan, OL
 • Yuri Wright, CB
 • Anthony Standifer, CB (very unlikely)
 • Shaq Thompson, S

Now, obviously, there isn't room for all these guys, but is we can take four of them, I would be thrilled to have either RB, either WR, a TE, an OL, and a CB.

If we end up with:

 1. Dunn
 2. Madaris
 3. Grant
 4. Garnett
 5. Wright

well, we could scarely have a better class.

what in the world makes you think Payton would ever be buried on the depth chart? I know we had a good year, but when did we start burying WR's with offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC and Florida on the depth chart? Was it after we recruited Justin Blackmon and cloned him 5 times last year?

Payton tweeted the other day about getting back to LA and how much he loves California. I think we'll have a hard time pulling this guy from the Cali life. I'd say he's a strong lean to Cal.

but I am happy with Darboh and with Chesson, assuming he commits. I am not sure how Payton figures playing for ND or Cal Golden Bears, assuming that is what his cryptic tweet refers to. Both Cal and ND seem to have more than enough receivers for this year's class. Assuming either would be willing to take another WR commit, how much sense does that make? You are going to be competing not only against upper classmen but also against 3-5 guys in your class and against guys in the subsequent class. At Michigan, he woud not have a whole lot of competition. We aren't exactly stacked with the big possession receiver types. Stonum and Miller will be around but Miller is slated to play TE. I don't know what the kid is thinking. Unless, the coaches cooled off on him.

I saw Jordan play this year, I live 5 minutes from Oaks. He was less than impressive on both sides of the ball. My opinion is from actually watching him
play. Prior to seeing him play, I got caught up in all the hype and thought he was going to be awesome.

In the two biggest games of the year against Westlake, he was a TOTAL NON FACTOR on both O & D. In the championship game he caught 1 pass.

On he other hand his teammate WR Brian Owusu is a beast. He father is an Olympic track star, has siblings at Stanford and I believe Columbia and Harvard.
