Jordan Morgan becomes member of 500 Rebounds Club

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Didn't see this mentioned anywhere or on MGoBlue which surprised me, but with 7 boards today, Jordan has become the 41st member of Michigan's 500 Rebounds Club.

He currently sits at 41st with 500 rebounds. The next player with more than him is Chris Young at 515.

Jordan Morgan should be a captain next year IMO. Team plays so much better with him out there.

Any of our players got any rebounds at all. 41-28 is NOT an acceptable margin.

As it happens, Morgan was the only one getting it done. 3/4 in 24 Mins.

We can't get offensive rebounds to save our lives but we usually are good with defensive rebounds.  Just not today.

Morgan is in good company on the rebounds list.  I remember Chris Young.  Poor guy had the displeasure of playing at the height of suck during the Ellerbe years.  I went to his last home game, a 10 point loss to OSU, where he kneeled down and kissed the block M during the last timeout.

He has to be the most underrated player on the (its hard to be underrated when the fact that you are underrated is itself cliched, but still).  In addition to him being the only rebounder on the team, we are a totally different team defensively with him on the floor as well.

the 5th foul while watching an opposing player travel club. Even with the win, still pissed at that call. B1G refs are horrible.

Congrats to Morgan. He has gotten a lot of grief from fans over the years, but he is a valuable member of this team.

It's surprising to me that Morgan isn't a captain right now.  I imagine he will be next year.

It's wild to see Zack Novak on that list.  609 boards for a 6'4" guy, not bad.

Congrats to Jordan Morgan. Also kudos to Trey Burke who with 8 assists today became only the fourth player in Michigan history with 200 assists in a single season:

  • Darius Morris (2010-11): 235; 103 TOs
  • Gary Grant (1987-88): 234; 150 TOs
  • Rumeal Robinson (1988-89): 233; 131 TOs
  • Trey Burke (2012-13): 201; 56 TOs

I threw in the turnover numbers to highlight just how few Burke has had this season.

Congratulations to Jordan Morgan on this feat, and indeed, looking at the list the OP gave, he is in some select company, to be sure. It is worth noting that Morgan accounts for 15.7% of Michigan's entire rebound total over the past three seasons - his value to this team cannot be understated.

much like zach and stu, jordan morgan is a real overachiever.

he will make an important contribution if his health continues to improve.
