OSU didn't "clean up" in Ohio this year as usual. Top Ten players went to LSU, Nebraska, and now Texas. Looks like OT James may be headed to ND too

O$U has lost out on a lot of their high end prospects this class. And they still still didn't address a solid QB to back up Pryor. Hopefully they lose out on Henderson on signing day as well. I'm not feeling a bit sorry for them.

That's not the issue. The issue is that they have Pryor next season, and then BLANK. If Pryor has any injury, they're reduced to starting... who?

Not that our situation is much better, but we at least have Denard Robinson and Gardner on the roster for next season.

..I couldn't plus you for it without feeling dirty because of this quote from the Mgoboard FAQ:

"Don't use stupid nicknames like O$U."

Otherwise, though, I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I really hope that Tressel starts having more trouble recruiting contemporary players because of the boring nature of his offense. They aren't producing star QB's for the NFL, and players would rather be in an offense where they can shine.

Many offensive skill players seem to have figured out that unless you are an RB who is very strong, ala Beanie Wells, you won't shine much while Pryor is trying to throw from the pocket and Tressel is calling the plays.

It is time for the balance of power to shift back where it belongs. OSU fans are similar to MSU fans, in that they love to rewrite history to only include their dominant phases. To most OSU fans, the last six years are all that matters, and their 2-10-1 streak against Michigan from 1988-2000 never happened.

They really need a collective wake-up call in Columbus. Hopefully, it comes in November.

Since 2008 they’ve had 4 kids that are not from Texas.

There recruiting philosophy is, offer the top 50 kids in state first 25 to sign wins. Rough life Mac Brown lives.

to be able to pick 22 out of your 24 commits from in-state (J Hicks is originally from TX and grew up a UT fan, so you could almost say 23 of 24) and have the majority be studs according to the star systems. Just imagine if MI had that kind of talent, MSU would be a powerhouse ;)

So glad he didn't go to OSU, they aren't having that great of a year. Who took the most Ohio prospects this year? Michigan. They may have some of the better Ohio recruits but I still like being able to say we recruited more Ohio talent than they did.

I compared the in-state recruiting of OSU for the classes of 2009 and 2010, and found some surpising (but enjoyable) information per rivals100.

In the 2009 class, OSU snagged 4 out of the top 5 players in the final state rankings (the 1 not to go was Justin Turner). They also got 7 out of the top 10 best players in Ohio.

In 2010, they have only 1 out of the top 5 players, and none in the top 4. Also, they have only received commitments from 2 out of the top 18 players in Ohio.

Surprising, but awesome, that they have failed so miserably this year in their own backyard.

This is great news. I wonder if this is a harbinger for things to come at OSU. Is it possible Tressel has kind of hit a wall in Columbus? He has been a phenomenal recruiter for years, but it seems that the teams performance has plateaued (given that plateau is fairly high). I think the top recruits see other schools as a little more flashy and perhaps more upside over the long term.
