I'm done following recruiting, if I didn't know what was going on I wouldn't be disappointed in a top 10 class
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
i give up on ever trying to make recruiting predictions again. but here's to hoping kozan commits.
February 3rd, 2012 at 8:58 PM ^
FYI, personal attacks and accusations of "benefits" are being deleted pretty liberally.

and thank you

makes me feel like our fan base are these dudes:
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
When does the drinking thread begin? If Kozan now picks UM, he played the odds pretty well. I wonder if he knew the coaches were on their way out?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:04 PM ^
While not as entertaining on signing day, having most of our highly-regarded recruiting class wrapped up 6 months before NSD is a sign of strength, not weakness.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
The coaches did an incredible job early projecting talent and landing it; I agree. However, landing very few on the final days while Alabama, Auburn, ohio, and Stanford (Stanford!), cleaned up was disheartening. Probably just my spoiled bratetness because of what the coaches achieved early.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
Yea, agree
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
Timing doesn't mean anything. What matters is how well the guys in the class perform 3-4 years from now.
That being said, this definitely has the potential to be a great class despite all the recent setbacks and handwringing.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:27 PM ^
I wouldn't call it strength as much as opportunity. OSU and PSU were in trouble. Hoke could do all the negative recruiting he wanted without anyone countering. As soon as Meyer was hired the only recruit Hoke got was a midget named Norfleet?
Ol Hokey Pokey shot his wad, prematurely.

Jordan Diamond: I will shock the world!
World: Jordan who?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
when you claim he got paid or a car. It makes us all look like dumb asses so just stop.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
You can't help but throw out those claims, albeit tongue in cheek, when you're dealing with a semi-pro league. Actling like RCMB would mean that we should get his email address and sign him up for all kinds of spam, or find out his mom's name so we can harass him in a bowl game.

I am happy with the class..its obvious we wanted more Oline..we lost out on two 5* Olineman to schools that put together the monster Oline classes that we wanted so bad and seemed sure of getting..Its obvious Diamond had no concern of depth chart as some rumored.
It does bother me the staff couldnt win a recruiting battle down the stretch for some of the elite recruits ... we started great and ended good for holding onto the very good class we got early but poor in the battle stretch ... i hope this was just a tough luck thing that goes away
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:14 PM ^
Oh well, Maybe this will help us with Kozan.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:15 PM ^
I feel like I'm in the minority but none of these recruiting "losses" down the stretch bother me. We have a great group of players coming in and I can take away the positives of being in the mix for some top players. Over the next several years, I think we will win more of these battles.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:16 PM ^
Earlier in the week, Sam Webb was touting Scout's unblemished record on predicting where all of U-M's recruiting targets would end up. Figures the only two they would get wrong were the two they had pegged for U-M.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
Well, that sucks. Would have been nice to land Diamond to finish off the great class. Never underestimate the benefits of an Auburn diploma.
Kozan, come on down! You're the next contestant...
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:19 PM ^
How do you make Michigan State cookies?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
we should have just filled the class back when we had the chance. i guess there really is such a thing as momentum in recruiting, although i never would have thought that before now.
in any case we still have a superb class coming in this year, and our head coach poops gold, so i'd definitely say the future looks bright.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
Never undestimate the power of "Southern Hospitality." The great thing about Michigan is that without improper benefits, you always know the players are coming to Ann Arbor for the right reasons.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:06 PM ^
Hey moderator... you deleted my post that said essentially the exact same thing as above. I guess I need a zillion points first, which meant I needed to have been a buddy of one of you guys when points were given out freely. Be consistent.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
I was being honest, and was repeating what I was told. The friend knows a very well connected OSU insider, and in past he has told me things that turned out to be true. If it ever comes out, what I said, then YOU owe me an apology.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:31 PM ^
In the meantime, if you can't see the difference between a post saying "it's nice to know that people that come here come here on the up-and-up" and one that says "I know this guy who has a friend who knows this chick who ate lunch with a guy who says that this kid is on the take," then I don't know what to tell you.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
I never said the kid was on the take... go find my post from this morning.
if anything that email you sent is over the top. i understand why you'd delete the post, but the email sent is bunk.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
The e-mail is an automatically generated notification thing that tells people when their comments have been deleted. I didn't write it, I didn't send it, and I didn't program the thing that sends it.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:31 PM ^
A little depressing, but still a great class. By the way some of you just keep setting yourself up for disappointment. You shouldn't say,"Oh well, Diamond committed to Auburn so now we are getting Kozan." Just assume Kozan is staying with Iowa and then you won't be let down if it happens.
February 4th, 2012 at 7:18 AM ^
Someone with a little rationality. Thank you. I hope your message spreads.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:34 PM ^
Auburn? Ok well good luck with that. Next.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:40 PM ^
Whatever, I'm moving on. Diamond or no Diamond, Kozan or no Kozan, it's still a great haul. On to spring practice, 2013 recruiting, and the season.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:04 PM ^
I'm already looking forward about Joe Bolden
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
May we never cross paths with him and may he be a thorn in Saban's side. IMO this is just a side effect of elevating the SEC to near mythical status, it's hard for kids not to be intrigued by it anymore.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:57 PM ^
Damn SEC
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
Particularly Bulleit Rye, is great stuff. Have been drinking it for about a year. Best rye I have tried. Go crazy and try white whiskey. Unaged, no or very little barrel time. Current favorite is Pritchard's Tennessee White Lightning Corn Whiskey. 90 proof and very sippable.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
gotten awkward. Got stood up on our last six dates?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
That really sucked
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
...at least no one stood us up on the altar.

Let me start off by saying I have been an avid mgoblog reader since 07' (yes 07' I had a different handle). But this the last straw for me. I am threw with this site.
I have never seen such a big group of arrogant, self-rightous and pompus clowns in my life. You guys are the definition of the pot calling the kettle black. You rip other schools fanbases for what they do yet you do the same thing..
And then, you have some that feel they are above everybody else to the point where they can snd will delete what you say.. Well delete this, cause quite frankly I dont give a shit.
Take a look around. Getting worked up over some kids recruitment. WHO. FUCKING. CARES?
I love my school and will support it till the day I die. But not this site. I refuse to associate with people that think everyones second class citizens next to them.
So keep on with your computer loving, arm chair quarterback, diva asses. I ain't got time for this joke of a site.
Incase you didn't get the memo. Your a fucking joke. Go do something constructive
