A Joke post criticizing RR

Just saw the following blurb on MLive:

With forecasters predicting winds of more than 50 miles per hour across southeastern Michigan last week, football coach Rich Rodriguez met with his team’s operation director and video coordinator.

“This is pretty heavy wind,” Rodriguez told the group Wednesday.

The Wolverines spent part of their practice that day inside because of the winds. When they went outside, the video coordinator went 10 to 12 feet off the ground in a hydraulic lift instead of filming the team’s practice from a higher perch.

Under similar conditions that day, a student videographer was killed in South Bend, Ind., when his lift toppled from a height of 40 to 50 feet while he filmed Notre Dame’s football practice.

At Michigan, Rodriguez said he makes the decision on whether conditions permit practice to be held outside or necessitate a move inside, and then he speaks with the video coordinator about safety.

“The video coordinator will talk about the conditions, and whether it’s safe to go up or not, and he communicates that with me,” he said.

Given the overeaction of many on this site (myself included) to just about anything that RR says or does, I thought that I would poke fun at us and create the following mock post:

Man, can you believe this.  Now I know why RR can't get it done in the B10.  Guy just isn't that into winning.  I mean he cares more about the life of some stupid non-athlete video guy than he does about winning games.  You don't see Brian Kelly doing things like this.

And, can you believe that he takes time out to talk to the video coordinator about conditions.  I mean really.  He has no time to coach the defense, but he does this?

This also shows how unfit he is to coach in the B10.  Dude, it is windy in the midwest.  We get tornados.  Maybe in WVU or the Big East he didn't have to deal with this type of weather, but in the Big 10 we get wind.  That's why his spread option offense doesn't work against real teams, by the way.  He doesn't video practices on windy days.

I bet Harbaugh would have climbed up on that hydraulic lift himself and videod practice while simultaneously coaching the defense in tackling and explaining to his kickers that it is a good idea to not kick out of bounds and to try to kick it between the uprights instead of wide right.

This is extremely disrespectful to the ND kids memory. You should seriously be ashamed. Please remove the OP.

Quite the opposite.  I am commending RR on putting the safety of his video crew ahead of something as trivial (in the scheme of things) as taping practice.  Because RR did so, our video team was not subjected to dangerous conditions.

This is NOT intended to in any way comment on the poor guy at ND.  If this offended you, then I seriously think that you are looking for a reason to be offended.  Regardless, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

would be hilarious if the kid had only broke his arm or something.  Given a death was involved, I think its a little too soon and disrespectful.  But I like the effort.

This post wouldn't be funny even if someone hadn't really died; as it stands, it's just appalling.  Please, please, don't ever joke about a recently deceased student, and try to develop a sense of humor far away from this blog.

Yeah, you're using the death or a 20-year old college student to make a joke that is entirely devoid of humor, and not even clever.  It might be different if someone had a broken arm.  Please try and use some judgement.

What's worse than one dead baby?

A barrel full of dead babies! What's worse than that?

The one on the bottom is alive! What's worse than that?

It's eating its way out!

What has four legs and one arm?

A doberman at the playground.

How do you stop a baby from crawling in circles?

Nail its other hand to the floor.

Clearly the accumulation of points is not an indicator of the quality of the post.  I am going to assume that you believed that your post would be humorous.  I know that I have spoken and posted things that passed the "will this make me sound stupid" filter only to be confirmed that yes indeed that made me sound/appear stupid.

I hope to see a retraction or "mea culpa".

Extremely poor taste post.  Some things you can make fun of and some things you can't.  The senseless, tragic and premature death of a terrified young man is definitley NOT one of them.

Take it down.
