I thought he had some pretty good info, actually. People are downplaying his comments on DB's relationship with Harbaugh and Miles. His statement was in fact that he "has it on very high authority" that Harbaugh and Miles would "never" work under Brandon.

Moreover, he also said that in the last coaching search after RR's firing, when he sat down with the head coaches of NW, OSU and a third major program which I can't remember, the very first question those coaches asked him was whether it was true that Michigan's AD sits in on film sessions with coaches.

I found those statements incredibly damming, especially from a guy who chooses his words carefully.

Another commentator then brought up a great point: if both those statements are true, you've now taken your two top candidates, as well as a host of others, solely because of the personality of your AD.

That blows my mind. The guy has to go.

This is a silly argument to make it ok. You're right, if we win it looks cool and edgy. But we didn't win. Because we're shitty at football. Shitty teams who are shitty at football shouldn't do this type of thing because more often than not they will lose and it will look shitty

How many players, former and current, are pissed that the FSU Injun Joe thrust a spear into the Block M before beating the tar out of Michigan?  Nobody remembers because nobody wants to remember.  Had Michigan won yesterday the Bolden Stake would have become part of the Michigan football lore.

I was at that game, and I have absolutely no recollection that at any time a flaming spear was thrust into the "Block M" at the center of the field.

Are you certain that it happened, or did you just now make it up?  Can you point to any primary source (photograph or article) that discusses it, or even a photograph or TV clip showing the incident?

I want to remember.

I love Jamie Morris, will always be over the top with his positivity despite obvious suck in the program.

Bacon though will have to be politically correct since he is on WTKA today.

Bacon basically confirms to the best of his knowledge the best coaching candidates won't come to UM with Brandon at AD. Then seems to infer that there is a real possibility that Brandon is not fired in time for a coaching search. That's what I got out of it at least.

throwing statements out there without context.  " Coaches were consoling Steven Threet as he cried in the locker room."  Context? None ever offered.  What happened after that?  He doesn't say.  35 former players have allegedly signed a petition and sent it to the regents.  No names offered to substantiate the letter.  Not even a copy of the letter with the names blacked out was offered as evidence.

Lloyd Carr signing away transfer papers.  To whom, for what reasons?  Bacon heard about it, supposedly from certain players..why no intellectual curiousity to flesh out the claims?  Lloyd Carr was running around Michigan sabotaging the recruiting environment.  Really?  Which schools, about what players, which HS coaches?  JUB doesn't say, but because like Luke, he wrote it down, it is therefore Gospel.

A lot of people cheer on JUB without question, perhaps because he confirms what they want to believe.  To me, JUB knows his audience and is loath to expand on what he says lest he lose that audience.

Let me fill you in on a few things:

Yes, about 35 former players signed a petition and sent it to Schlissel. So said one of the former captains from one of Bo's teams on 105.1 FM here in Detroit during Drew Lane's afternoon show. I heard the interview.

There were several players, then-current and former, who acknowledged the offer to sign transfer letters. That wasn't just something that appeared in Bacon's book. Many commented on this site that their contacts inside the program and department were telling them the same thing.

As for "sabotaging the recruiting environment," I have never heard that. As I recall from Bacon's book, "Three and Out," he never accused Lloyd of that either, directly or indirectly, and he had plenty of veiled accusations in that book.

has the substance of a null set.  Even the unnamed captain isn't willing to give substance.  BTW, the story as related here on MGOBLOG, is that the letter was sent to a regent.

No longer local.  Was local for 20 years and still have much family in Michigan, and Ann Arbor specifically, that are visited with some frequency.  I'm not sure what that has to do with understanding there is a lack of context being offered.

But he not only identified himself, he also said he was one of the guys who had organized the petiiton. I think he was the captain of the '74 or '75 squad.

As for the "not what sure what being local has to do with anything" ... Because you didn't have the benefit of hearing the interview that I heard.

I was responding to what another member had written and then you took me on with your toolish snark.  Go ahead, I'll wait, look at who started.  Y

our problem is that you have a position, based primarily on emotion and when challenged you have no real answers so you dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

Probably means the same thing that any investigative type reporter means. He's interviewed several people who are well placed and have first hand knowledge and they tell similar enough stories that Bacon is confident enough to report a consensus opinion and out his name on it. Obviously he can't talk to every single coach in the nation, so he qualifies it with "to the best of my knowledge".

President Schlissel doesn't appear to give a hoot about the athletic department and won't be making any push for a new AD.  The Regents seem equally as apt to support their party before they support their school.  But I still say that Brandon should stay on to see the through the completion of the Athletic campus expansion, he really has done so much for the Athletic Department that can't be negated by Coach Hoke's failures.

1. You're off base with every aspect of your comment. This issue is top of mind for Schlissel right now. He knows it's not going away and is going to make a thoughful decision, as he normally does. Brandon should not stay on, he's the root of all these problems and needs to go.

2. Get rid of your signature. I'm sure the cats thing is a good cause and all, but this isn't the place for that kind of advertisment (or gluten free bs).

Did it not occur to you that, just perhaps, there are legal and contractual issues that need to be addressed before DB can be dismissed? What would you have Schlissel do, be as ham-handed with that process as the AD has been with its proceedings?

Those things take time, and notwithstanding a clear policy or legal violation on DB's part, the law and policy favor DB. I would prefer that Schlissel act in the best interests of the WHOLE university and not in a way that adds insult to injury.
