I wouldn't expect Brandon to be fired as soon as the meeting ends. I bet the regents will make their formal proposal like "Mr. President, we the regents recommend that David Brandon be relieved of his duties as Athletic Director" then Schlissel will take the weekend to make a plan and Brandon will be gone Monday at the very earliest.

At least there was something interesting to listen to.. it's always very different to listen to the speaker as opposed to everyone's interpretations of what the speaker said.

John Bacon said that his prior comments about Brandon being gone by next year, were the purest of speculation and he qualified it when talking to Mr. Hugh by saying it was just for fun, if he was going to bet this is how he would bet.  He didn't back off what he said, but was heavy on the disclaimers and expressed some surprise about the internet commentary that sprang up afterward, and a bit about the drama that continues even after the win.

Hugh was in agreement.  Both men indicated they weren't expecting any major announcements after the regents' meeting, which is a regularly scheduled meeting, but that there would certainly be reviews of events.  They also agreed that Brady Hoke isn't going to be let go in the middle of the season. Finally, what was most compelling, to me anyway was Bacon's observation about how the players came alive "playing their hearts out" at Rutgers and PSU which is a strong indicator that they are in fact behind their coaches.  It would have been all too easy to just not try as hard. Having said that - both Bacon and Hugh were concerned about the lack of player development as an issue for Hoke as HC, and that more than likely he would be evaluated at the end of the season in that regard.

Bacon did say that Brandon has possibly lost one of his support structures - namely, the "Big donors." Plural.   He used that phrase, and did not name names, but did mention that it was a source of support that he may not have now.   The donors care very much about the reputation of the university and it would make sense to me that they would have concerns - but that is MY speculation ;)

By "end of the season," I hope like hell they mean REGULAR season!  If Michigan does pull another 3 wins out of their hats and make a bowl game, I'd want the firing to happen well before the bowl game.

Typically, coaches get the axe by the Monday press conference following the last regular season game, if not sooner.  The only exception I can think of that didn't involve some form of improper behavior by the coach was DB letting RR twist in the breeze through the bowl season.

The reason is that coaches are hired in December and if you miss the window, you are likely missing out on the best coaches.  And it provides the incoming coach with more time to lock down the recruiting class.

Again, the notable exception to a December hire was Saban.  The Bama job stayed open for a long time to allow Saban to finish the season with the Dolphins.

Assuming that DB is gone in the next few weeks and quickly replaced, allowing the new AD time to find where the mens room is and type up the draft dismissal letter, if Hoke isn't fired by the Monday after The Game, we are probably hiring a NFL HC.

You are correct, my post was out of line. To the subject at hand, Brandon needs to go for infinite reasons. Would Bates/Jim Harbaugh be best possible combo? Would for me.

They have a hard enough job... let's agree to keep partisan politics out of this discussion for their sake..

Player development is concerning, and really seems to be at the heart if Michigan's struggles. So many other programs seem to get a lot out of any level of recruit they land, while Michigan (even before Hoke & RR) seem to continually get less out of high level recruits. Any of the FB coaches in here have insights into what might be going on?
