John Madden (U-M hockey) now assistant in NHL

Submitted by PB-J Time on

So in hockey coaching news that isn't wild speculation, John Madden (former U-M hockey player, not the NFL coach/video game) will now be an assistant coach with the Florida Panthers after that team cleaned house with a poor start. I thought they always had slow starts (and middles, and finishes) but according to the article from the WWL they won the division last year. Good to see him succeed as a player for so long and hopefully his coaching future is bright.

Florida won the division two years ago, last season they were terrible. Dale Tallon cleaned house and promoted his staff from San Antonio, where Madden was an assistant.

It's tough moving from the easiest division in hockey to a division including the Wings, Leafs, Habs, and B's.  Their division win won't be repeated any time soon, but this is still good for Madden.
