The Coach spent about ten minutes visiting with Rome this afternoon. The linked podcast is for all of Hour 2 of Rome's program, but the Beilein visit comes right at the top.

so much for that
This list is completely arbitrary and not a genuine analysis of the relative merits of state fossils.

the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection
but I thought that draft was supposed to be incredibly loaded?
If you're gonna go please be in the first round.
another delightful side effect of a 14 team conference

Their high school coaches and AAU coaches have probably a better appreciation of Michigan than maybe they had before," Beilein said. "It's a tough balance right now. Tim Hardaway and Trey Burke weren't really high-profile players, nor was Darius Morris, and all were high-profile players. "We're still looking at 'who is the best fit.' "
"When I call somebody a midget, clearly I'm not trying to insult f---ing midgets. I'm just using basketball terminology."

"That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed.
"It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed.
John Beilein's experience and perspective makes for an entertaining interview, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing this with the board.
One thing that I he mentioned that I thought was intriguing was his duscussion of the "good loss" in the sense that long winning streaks sometimes make teams forget how to play the tougher games (summarizing about 90 seconds of dialogue there). He sort of tied it to the Ohio State loss, which was followed by a big win at Minnesota and then a week of "getting back to basics", as he put it earlier in the interview.
It seemed to me that he's pretty hyped about this team in his own way, especially when he talked about having five freshmen playing significant time and when talking about Burke and Robinson as well. Awesome stuff!
"Funny isn't it, how naughty dentists always make that one fatal mistake."
