John Beilein on ESPNU: College Basketabll Podcast

Coach Beilein was the first call in guest on yesterdays podcast and when asked about the wolverine out of conference schedule and how games @ Iowa State, vs Arizona and vs Stanford in Brooklyn came about and coach hinted that Michigan playingon Brooklyn for the second straight season had a lot to do with the crowd at last years game. They were so impressed with the Michigan crowd that they want to get out to the East Coast more often, as in once a year.... Hopefully thats once other than a trip to Rutgers. Would love to see Michigan schedule games at MSG or back at Barclays on a regular basis.

Games in the northeast are a great idea because basketball is pretty big up that way and of course there's tons of exposure, especially at the places you mentioned.

Not only that but there are a ton of Michigan fans out that way. It's easier for a basketball team to schedule a neutral site game than it is for the football team to give up a home game.

That was basically a home game in Brooklyn....can't wait for them to come back!

But getting some exposure to the basketball scene in the boroughs of NY could help recruiting, especially with the big East collapsing. NY has had 1 or 2 good players come through there....sarcasm right there.
