Joel Klatt sums it up perfectly

The amount of Twitter muscle being flexed by #MichiganState fans this morning is baffling...you won on a dropped punt snap

The golf course felt like I was walking through the ferguson riots after the game. I saw at least 10 separate fights, some of them brutal. I had a 40 year old Michigan state fan go after my fiancé's little cousin all because he yelled he hated sparty at no one directly. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing.

Yep. We should remind people of this thread, the next year this topic comes up. I saw two fights by the time I got to the car. One guy had blood pouring out of his nose. It was really dark and couldn't see if it a M fan or MSU fan. A few people were breaking them up.

I will say that I've never actually had an issue with the Buckeyes who come to Ann Arbor. The riffraff seem to stay in Ohio. It probably helps that the Game is almost always at noon. I've had worse experiences with MSU fans, although not on this occasion. 2010 was the worst. I don't ever want them coming here for a night game.

Awful. I was walking to my car with my wife in silence when some sparty bro attempted to get into our faces. I just wished him congrats on the win, he kept going being an ass to two strangers. He then admitted he was drunk and I wished him to have a good night. He was stunned I didn't want to start a fight.

This gives me nothing. I could have said this 10 seconds after the game (when I wasn't either stunned in silence or yelling Fuck Everything). It was a fluke. Shit happens in football. Dantonio yelled "Where did all the wolverine fans go" as he was leaving the stadium. He's going to regret that. Time's ticking on MSU's dominance.

MSU fans know they have already seen the best that they can be.

They also know that Michigan is not just back, it's going back to being a nationally dominant program.

Let them have their fun. It's the end of the run for them, and they know it.

that I'd feel very similar as we should have in the UM-NW games between '12-14. Take the win (!), you happily take it but deep down you know. What do you know? "It". Whatever "it" is for your particular team and for them "it" is a warning sign. Will it ruin them? Likely not. MD will field solid teams as long as he's there but it doesn't take much to go from "win on a freak ass play" bring awesome to a sign. We've lived it for what feels like forever now but we've seen "it", our soul's reminder that we are not what we think we are. I think their bowl game will determine 1 or 2 losses but that's still a great year. We know what we have to do but we also know what we need to do it and those things will come. If I we're a msu fan (thank GOD I'm not), I'd be very happy but I'd know. They know. Troll all they want, they know.

This is spot on. Any Spartan fan you people may run into tomorrow at work that pipes up about the game should simply be reminded of this simple fact. Congrats to them on the win, but everyone who knows anything about that game in particular and college football generally knows they don't deserve it. I'd be very circumspect if I were a spartan fan. Unfortunately, those two things don't usually go together.

I think you need to stop being a two faced bitch. All you do is rip Michigan and mgoblog users on irishenvy. Don't think there are people here that don't know what you say. I'm usually cordial with the domers but I can't stand two faced assholes like you.

Why is that being 2 faced?  I am respectful of your little blog ON your little blog.  I don't have to curb my enthusiasm on my own message board.

And why do mods tolerate me here?  See above.  Plus I have a lot more mgopoints than you.

Screw them. The narrative out there by the media is that Michigan was in control and only lost because of one of those football miracles. They need o enjoy this year as years like this only come around once every fifty years. Next year they lose their greatest QB of all time and we start to rectify the series.

Don't know how many bothered to watch college football final or the Sunday show this morning, but I thought it was amusing that Michigan still gets all of the attention from the media. No one said that MSU won, only that Michigan lost it on a fluke play. Not much credit going to Sparty, how disrespectful!

Yes, they had to actually stop themselves midway through a 20 min. segment on it and say "We should probably also focus on the positive side of this event for Michigan State."  It was an afterthought even to them.

Let's face it, Oklahoma State has won a few games recently with Oklahoma, but I don't look at them on the same level as Oklahoma.  It's going to take more than a few recent wins to do that.

Same with Michigan State.

This is especially true if you don't live in the state of Michigan.  Michigan State is just a program that has won a few games recently, like TCU or Mississippi State.  Nothing more.  They are only as good as their next win.

Having lived in other States, I can say that's true. Very good comparison with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The only place the cries of OSU  fans about parity or "dominance" of the rivalry is taken seriously is inside the state itself. Fans outside of the state don't give bluster like that any weight. Creating the sense that one program has become as important or prominent as the long term successful one is a a tool for local media to pump up ratings and page views. It's manufactured reality. It's a favorite trick of many in the Michigan media. Two in particular have turned baiting Michigan fans with made-up opinions into their ticket to an early retirement.

Personally I love it. They could win the national title and they'll never be seen as anything more than "that other team in Michigan." A few good years don't erase a century of mediocrity and repeated ass kickings from UM. Just like a few years of mediocrity do not erase the allure of Michigan.

MSU will never be Michigan.
