Joe McFarland interview. Must listen for anyone remotely interested in Wrestling

wrestlingaddix.com has a very good interview with Joe McFarland, Michigan Wrestling head coach. He talks about Steve Luke's national title run, the lineup this year, his incoming freshman, his teams youth, a little recruiting, and even EEEE BARWIS.

The biggest thing to take away from this is Michigan might have 7 freshman or sophomore starters out of 10, and that is with his top 2 recruits redshirting this year. Also of note, he mentions Kellen Russel may redshirt this year, and I can confirm he will, he is no longer nationally ranked. It hurts this years team, but starting next year Michigan will begin to compete for National Title's.

Had his knee cleaned out, and I think something on his hand. The team isn't going to be a serious title contender this year, so he wants to get himself right. Like McFarland said, its an incredibly young, promising team, and they should compete for big ten and NCAA titles soon.

with minnesota, iowa and penn state leading the way michigan is going to have a hard time cracking top 3 in the big 10 in 2010/2011 and 2011/2012. that being said, they will be a solid top 10 team.

Didn't listen to it but you said the top 2 freshman recruits would be redshirting too. Was it Grajeles and Boyle?

I'll still be going to all the matches and the Big 10, but it won't be nearly as fun.

As a side note, anyone notice that UM hasn't gotten a nationally ranked prospect for next years class yet? I wonder what the problem is? Too many young guys or what?
