Joe Mathis Visiting This Weekend
Per Tremendous:
Top DL target Joe Mathis will be visiting Ann Arbor next weekend.

This is great news as he is a very talented and highly touted player, and a consensus 4-star. He was chosen as the DL MVP of today's Nike Camp, and was apparently the only the defensive line players who outplayed Taco Charlton.
Also, another note, Joe is the cousin of CA Saftey and consensus top-10 2013 player Su'a Cravens, and a good visit from Mathis could possibly help our chances with Su'a too.

not sure which, but i think theres a camp/event in detroit thats he's got an invite to, piggybacking with a visit to aa as well... read that somewhere, dont remember the source, sorry.

i was bored and perusing a coupla things.. actually dont think i had read the tremendous article, but maybe i did? either way, Aquaman's doing good work.. he deserves the shoutout, and i deserve the flak for not clicking through to the linked article.
As of now we have a WDE in Taco Charlton, I think the plan is to take 3 more, one for each spot on the Dline, Poggi looks to be a good bet to be the 3tech
I bet we take 3 DL total. Taco, plus one NT and then one 3/5-tech. We're at a numbers crunch, and we took four solid 3/5-tech guys last year. Unless our total goes up, I doubt we take more than 3 along the D line.

Supposedly him and Cravens are a package deal and the rumor is that they are likely to be Huskers. Hopefully we wow the both of them and that changes!

If the huskers are in the lead for them right now I like our chances. I thought it would be USC, which would not make me feel so confident. I think they'll realize pretty quickly that Nebraska is not gonna be taking any BTCs from us any time soon.
If this is true about Nebraska, I'm actually much more optimistic. Plus, it suggests that distance from home might not be a huge deal for these guys.
Unfortunately, many folks think they are USC leans, and not Nebraska.
Looks like Cravens and Mathis are scheduled to visit Nebraska for their spring game on 4/14. Hope Mathis' visit to AA next weekend is eye-opening enough to keep Michigan in strong standing.

Today's commitment from Hawkins to USC (Rancho DB) may have an impact on there plans as the other Rancho Safety was just offered by USC this week. Looks like USC is trying to get all Four of these 4* and 5* players from the Inland Empire locked up asap! QB Brown w is a 5* Also spent 3 full days on the USC Campus this weekend as well.

dmac24, It looks like we are still recruiting SDE (Taco a WDE) and Mathis is a SDE competing for open spot vs. Bosa (visiting Spring game), Allen, maybe Vanderdoes (also mentioned as DT) and others on board. I don't hear we lead with anyone of these right now. Two other spots are open for DT. Poggi is still top candidate for 3-T. It may be Poggi or bust at 3-T. We still need a NT like Webb. Vanderdoes is a dude that can play any of these.
He ran a 4.77 40 at a recent combine. I thought Urban didn't even like student managers to run that slow?
