Jimmy going after Sparty commits
Still trust Gregg Henson? Here is what he has to say about Jim Harbaugh going after Sparty's HUGE commits:
At this point, Harbaugh has his eyes on a couple of HUGE MSU commits in 2015 and 2016. Looks like he may make a move on a couple of MSU guys soon. Right now Michigan is on the hunt and Sparty is the hunted, this will get good, soon!Scott (RB), Stallworth (OL) and Williams (DE) are the ones that I think worth poaching.

Henson also said we were getting Josh Rosen.

people keep harping on that. He didn't even come close to predicting that. He just passed along info he got and he basically said he didn't know and that he doesn't really follow recruiting.
I imagine if someone hates the guy they can pluck many other things he has said other than make something up

A journalist is only as good as his source. You cannot seperate one from the other. Henson's source was dead wrong, and that makes him dead wrong for reporting it.
January 19th, 2015 at 11:16 PM ^
anyone including me would ever call Henson a journalist.
Hope you aren't keeping score of dead wrong reporting on twitter accounts. That'd be a 25 hr a day job I think.

Actually, he didn't say that. He said "I'm just passing it along from a solid source." Are we just giving people a pass now whenever their sources suck? In that case, Harbaugh is going to leave Michigan next week to go live in the Alaskan wilderness, according to my source.

Brian's been wrong before. Should we not believe anything he says because of that? I'm not defensing this guy or anything but nobody gets everything 100 percent right especially in this business.
January 20th, 2015 at 1:16 AM ^
Nobody gets 100% of things right, but someone who gets 99.99% of things they report correct and can demonstrate why they were wrong for explicable reasons is a VERY good resource for knowlege. Someone who gets 90% right is untrustworthy but interesting, and someone who gets 80% right is basically useless. Someone who passes along everything without context is a mouthpiece, and is therefore serving whoever gave them information more than their audience.
Please don't throw the "nobody's perfect" thing out there again because it's fallacious. The question is what processes does a journalist use to provide their information.

With age, I have learned, that that is a rather conservative estimate.

I want to read 'Into the wild II' and maybe this time have the man walk out... sounds like a great idea.

Is he going to appear on the show Alaskan Bush People?

"he basically said he didn't know and that he doesn't really follow recruiting."
So why should we believe him this time?
January 20th, 2015 at 12:35 AM ^
he's probably just passing things along. I don't know what to tell you.
If I had to guess, he is screwing with his Green and White followers more than being a recruiting expert.
Michigan is going after a lot of prospects, doesn't mean they will get them.
January 20th, 2015 at 4:44 AM ^
He picked up a rumor and tried to catch lightning in a bottle, then backed off and blamed it on his "source'.
This is Hack Journalism 101.

He said in his post that Rosen "was in" if Harbaugh was hired, then he argued with people on twitter about it, all the while reminding people is was his guy not him.

It's clear that they're asking the kids to reconsider .... whether that's going hard or not.
Jimmy will get a few sparty commits to go blue!

Oh man. The meltdown from when Meyer stole Pittman from them would be dwarfed by this. Please happen.
January 19th, 2015 at 11:14 PM ^
When it became obvious that Harbaugh was going to be coming to Michigan, one of the things I was hoping for was puttling Sparty in their place soon. Flipping a couple of their "commits" would be a great way to do this.
Sparty already hates Michigan to a degree that is already infinite and irrational. They might as well have a few better reasons, like losing a few "commits" to Michigan and losing big to Michigan on October 17.

Wasn't Drake Harris committed to MSU at one point?
January 19th, 2015 at 11:06 PM ^
I think he was going to play basketball at one point. Think MSU told him he could do both.
Once he was going to concentrate on football I think he chose U-M.
January 19th, 2015 at 11:07 PM ^
He committed to them when he intended to play both FB and BB. After he decided to concentrate on FB he flipped to UM.

Is Harris pretty much a lock on being our #1 or #2 receiver next year? Him and Canteen I'm guessing?
January 19th, 2015 at 11:12 PM ^
No. We've got to make sure he's healthy first.
January 19th, 2015 at 11:16 PM ^
January 19th, 2015 at 11:18 PM ^
Harris needs to show he can stay healthy. IIRC he had a hamstring problem all last year.

Um are you trolling? The guy hasn't suited up in two years. We have no idea if he will even be able to play at all.
January 19th, 2015 at 11:37 PM ^
Honest question. I just remember the hype was unreal. I figured if he wasn't injured this year why not? Should be in the discussion. Meh.
