when Clausen got KO'd at the goal line and lost a fumble. He was down for several minutes and the coach / trainer was tending to him. I think Jimmahh is as douche-y as the next guy, but can't fault him for getting the f$%k-knocked out! Go Navy!

Yeah, Clausen looks more dazed than anything else. He's been a brat since he started at ND, but this one of the few times I'll defend him for looking weird.

If a guy is truly injured yes, cannot laugh at his misfortune.
However, I will contend he was not injured at all. He was embarassed that he just fumbled at the goal line. He didn't miss an offensive snap.
Also, the injury report was that he bruised his left wrist, however his left arm wasn't hit. The hit came on the right wrist, which caused the fumble.
The only thing injured was his ego, much like Limas Sweed before half in the Super Bowl, when he dropped a sure TD, laid on the ground, costing his team a timeout.
Then was in the game on the next play

Yeah but ND's recruiting is ridiculous. Just look at their commitment list in 2008. Charlie Weis seems to be underachieving despite how highly rated his recruits are.* I understand that I am using the most basic indicator of recruit talent, but Stanford is getting a good amount of 4* recruits while Northwestern has been getting mostly 2-3 stars. I'm kind of afraid of what would happen if, say, Urban Meyer took the ND job. The point is that ND should be able to play better with their high level of talent, while schools like Northwestern and Stanford, which probably have stricter academic guidelines when it comes to recruiting, are doing more with less since it's harder for them to recruit against conference/geographic foes.
*To be fair, we should probably look at ND's own attrition, if any, and if there are positions they have not been recruiting particularly well. Mispogon probably revolutionized the way that one evaluates a team's talent I do think that he touched upon ND in his thesis.
