the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

The story is true, they were discussing it during the UM-ND broadcast. Tate said he did not hate the Clausens but had a great dislike for them. Sorry that is all I heard.
I think the biggest ND related question is not only "will they cover this weekend against Purdue?" but rather "with all their injuries including Floyd and potentially Armando Allen, does Purdue have a decent chance at an outright win?"
I think the Boilermakers have a pretty good shot of knocking off ND. It's a big rivalry game, Clausen is somewhat nicked up. Allen is just probable.
That upset would be awesome.
it would, except that it would take a bit of weight out of UM's win over ND, at least it would to me.
I'm not too worried about that. When it comes to games more than a week in the past, nobody really remembers those when it comes to rankings. We beat them when they were high, so we're not going to lose much if they fall off. As long as we win, we'll continue to move up.
i agree to an extent, but if Notre Dame really pulls it together and finishes their season with 2 losses it would really help our BCS rating...
but then again it's a bit too soon to be talking BCS ratings isn't it?....
That's not even on my radar. So yes.
Since we're not angling for a spot in March Madness, I don't really think that that Purdue beating ND is going to do too much. Pollsters rarely consider the strength of the team you beat THIS week, much less the revealed strength of an early season win. If they did, we really wouldn't be worrying about polls in the first place...
Purdue lost to NIU. No way they beat ND, even with their injuries.
Never underestimate the power of the "schematic advantage". Purdue can beat them...
Everyone has a plan...until they get punched in the mouth.
I don't know how good Oregon is this season but Purdue did put up 36 on them, and 52 on Toledo, and ND's defense isn't that hot. Also the game is at Purdue. I'd give them a chance, even though they looked pretty bad against NIU. Not much of a chance, but a chance....
[edit]
Game is at 8pm on ESPN woo!
With Floyd out Purdue has a huge chance to beat Notre Dame. Every team can now bracket Golden Tate with a corner and a safety and still be able to play good defense on the rest of the field.
With Floyd and Tate that offense is probably one of the best offenses out there. Now that their offensive line is decent (a big improvement from being horrible the past two years), they can throw it deep to 2 great receivers. There aren't many defenses out there that have the manpower to stop their passing attack.
I personally think that losing Floyd probably adds 2 losses to their season. I would love for Purdue to be one of those extra losses. Then probably Boston College, because BC is horrible and it's funny how badly Notre Dame fans hate BC. Or Navy.
Oooh, no I hope Washington State beats them in that stupid neutral site game. Hmmmm, maybe they'll go 6-6 and I'll get my wish for all of these losses.
Especially w Clausen nicked up. Turf toe is actually very painful and could affect his performance. Floyd is out. Allen probably too. And while ND might be looking past this game to the USC game, Purdue will not overlook this game. It is probably the biggest game of the year for them.

Wait, what?
It took me to a story about a wayward emu being captured by police. I took a few moments trying to figure out how that applied to Jimmeh before I realized something was wrong.
How exactly does one use handcuffs to capture a large bird?
Someone recently mentioned that the Forcier family and the Clausen family do not get along. Thinking about it, both families have 3 sons all of whom are division 1 quarterbacks and all are relatively the same age (high school rivals?). Does anyone know if this is true or better yet some more back story?
