After a few weeks I realized he thinks his yacking about sports is more important than what the athletes actually do.  He trivializes sports in a demeaning way.  Annoying.

In a lot of ways I think Rome is correct in that Harbaugh sounds like a "crappy defense attorney"... But I think any coach in the country would have said the same thing he just happened to be on camera. And it wasn't a scenario where Harbaugh would be grilling (prosecuting attorney?) Winston and whether or not he did it... He can only assume that Winston is being candid in that moment.

I don't think he sounds like a defense attorney good or bad. Maybe a publicist. He essentially said "nobody gives a shit about your angling or side story. Say you messed up and move on." To me, that's just sound advice, for a football player or anyone in the working world. If you make a mistake, people don't care about your excuses. Own up and move on.

Jim Rome is the parasite of sports talk radio / tv. No one would know his name if it weren't for the Jim Everett incident. Wha a tool.

Here's what I dont get. The article says "Today on his radio show Jim Rome took Jim Harbaugh to task for his handling of the Jameis Winston interview." But Harbaugh was not there - in person or on the phone. He didnt take Harbaugh to task, he gave his opinion on Harbaugh. To not differentiate between taking someone to task who is actually engaged in conversation and has a chance to respond, and just giving an opiinion on someone who is, at that point, just a concept, is annoying as hell.

But this conflation allows the media to get the views they so depearately need. Clicking on it, and giving it play here, is really just as complicit in the conceit.
