is a joke.
It wasn't even close. I don't know what to say.
there are 3 words Jim Joyce needs to say I Fucked UP
He should be fired immediatley.
Absolutely. I'm not going to wish ill will on him like I've unfortunately been hearing, but the only solution is for MLB to fire him. You cannot screw up at your job this badly and keep it.
Pavel Datsyuk thinks Jim Joyce should visit Dr. Rahmani while in Detroit.
Congratulations to Armando Galarraga on an amazing game
i cannot describe how bad i feel for gallaraga. A perfect game is the pinnacle of pitching, and he was robbed of one.
Theres already 2 Tigers threads. I'm pretty sure you could have put this in the latest one.
Yes it is.
a post that has no value to it, of which it fits into one of the threads already on the board and has 10 replies just like it, needs to have its own post? I get it, people are pissed. But I'm pretty sure all the rage can be kept in 1 thread.
Why does it matter this much to you?
it's good form to post threads like these because, as you can see, it has degraded into a shithole of a thread with no point to it. No good was going to come from it the moment it was posted.
/gets down off of soapbox
Oh come on. Did you not hear the news about what happened? People need a chance to vent about some things. Sure, maybe the thread will end up getting cleared by tomorrow morning, but do you want someone to take this out on their dog?
need to vent on here so they don't take it out on somebody/something else, I suggest re-evaluating things.
Well, it's much better than overturning cars and setting them on fire or throwing things out of windows in anger.
needing to re-evaluate things if these are things that people feel they need to do to vent.
We aren't Sparty.
Are you f'ing kidding me?! Have you never gotten emtional about sports before? Almo bowl?????
edit, I think I replied to the wrong person here.
Come on, that argument won't work. Detroit burned a few cars in '84 when they won. A person got killed celebrating Boston's '04 title by a beanbag projectile fired by police. And I hope you remember the reaction we all had to the Miami game where we also got screwed. No matter what, good or bad, people will vent or celebrate in ways that are easily worse than this.
Get over yourself...these forums are exactly for these types of things. It's a user community. If you don't agree with the subject or don't want to be a part of it, stop posting.
Why did you come on here to vent to us about having to many threads for this subject then? To not vent like this is to not be human. Its almost as if you came to this thread to attack the fact of to many threads rather than contribute to what the thread was meant for.
I knew it was gonna go downhill right away, hence there was no meaning for the thread.
venting. Could there be better things to do... yes, but its good to get a good talk with your buddies after a stressful situation.
The only thing "downhill" about this thread is your MgoPoints due to your inability to grasp that quite a few members of this blog are also die hard Tiger's fans.
Sports fanatics + Horsheshit call = Armageddon.
I will say this. Your ill advised interjection has provided an outlet for venting. We thank you.
Would it not matter to you if Desmond was mysteriously and erroneously whistled down on the one and didn't get the great moment of striking the Heisman pose?
Hell I'm a diehard Indians fan (read: frequently depressed) and that call ruined my night.
while not a Tigers fan, I love to see historical moments. Hell, I was cheering for Jimenez when he was no hitting my Braves. I was cheering for Roy Halladay, even if it meant the Phillies went another game up. I was pulling for Galaraga to get the perfect game. I just find the threats in the thread to be embarrassing.
That's BS, don't backtrack now. Look at the time stamp on your first comment - you starting bitching about this thread well before anyone said anything inappropriate.
If you bitch about anything M related this fall, I'll be the first one to call you out.
Knowing how much of an asshole I can be (see last night and the ducttape/sweatshirt thread)...I'll be number two.
My first comment was asking if it was needed when there were already a couple threads on the game already and stating that nothing good come out of a thread. It doesn't take alot of brain power to figure out that a thread like this was going to be bad long before it turned out to be. I started bitching about about the about the threats after they were made.
And I don't hope people die over the internet. Sorry. If you see me stoop to that level, i hope you'll let me know about it.
Well, sorry you had to write all those other unnecessary comments. To answer your first, dumb question:
Yes, it was needed.
you sir are an idiot. sorry. you complain about starting a new thread on this bad call, yet you post countless items on it. nobody forces you to read any thread, yet you've also posted several time on it. what does it say about you. personally, i can scan the threads, read the op, and if it's anyway interesting, i'll post something. otherwise i move on. suggestion - do the same.
it deserves its own fucking thread
I didn't know Jim Joyce had an Mgoblog account!
Yes, the name Jim Joyce doesn't even deserve to be in the same Tigers thread. It is on it's own complete level of suckage. He is the anit-christ.
You sir have failed at life.
NUTS AND BOLTS
NUTS AND BOLTS
And He is, indeed, Angry and Michigan Sports Hating
Thats pathetic. MLB will be making a statement soon I'm sure. I feel terrible for Gallaraga though, started the season in the minors, comes up for what most people feel will be a couple spot starts and ends up getting absolutely robbed of a Perfect Game
That just pisses me off so god damn much! HE THREW A PERFECT GAME, only to get royally FUCKED by the ump. HE WAS OUT BY A FUCKIN STEP, IT WASNT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!!!!
This is the best single post on the subject. It wasn't even close.
The Freep could go a long way towards redeeming themselves by printing a "Perfect Game" headline tomorrow, refusing to acknowledge an obviously incorrect call. It's not like the one hit occured in the fifth inning or something - it was the final out, the game was over. I refuse to recognize that call - 21 perfect games in MLB history!
they'll probably blame Rich Rod...something about how the way the Michigan football program is being run affected MLB refereeing
I can see if it was an inch or so but the dude was out by feet! If they can review homeruns why can't they review that? How can you let a perfect game die like that MLB?!!'
i didn't see the game - only replays. but i would think the home plate ump would stop action, huddle with the other umps, and change the call. i know this isn't normal protocal, but this wasn't a normal game.
If Bud Selig has any sense left in those brains, he'll come out tomorrow and declare that a perfect game. Yea, that's probably not gonna happen or even possible, but i'm fucking outraged.
Is the MLB allowed to rescind the safe call and give Gallaraga a perfect game? I haven't seen the play yet but it sounds like it was a pretty obvious wrong call from the reaction on here...
I think a couple years ago when C.C. Sabathia almost threw a no-hitter and it was blown in controversial fashion, the Milwaukee Brewers tried to appeal the call to the MLB, I'm not too sure of the details but I know the appeal was overturned. I'm guessing the Tigers would try to do this if possible, even though it's not likely that it would change anything.
IIRC they tried to get the one hit ruled an error (which it should have been), but MLB wouldn't reverse the call.
At the very least, the scorer could rule it an error and at least salvage a no-hitter. I doubt that Selig will do the right thing and call it a perfect game. Remember, this is the guy who stopped the all-star game once in a tie after 11 innings!
I'm all for instant replay, but they need to find a more reliable way to implement it (tennis's seems pretty much infallible) -- high-speed cameras pointed at each base would be a start. I've seen several home run calls made wrong on replay. The current system is just enough to allow the crew to get some bad calls wrong twice while not enough to correct some (I have one in mind) other really awful calls.
are they allowed to? Well, considering that Selig changed the definition of "no-hitter" and "perfect game" a few years ago, yeah, they're most certainly allowed to.
Will they do anything? very unlikely. The most I'd expect is that they'd acknowledge the wrong call was made (from what I've heard, Joyce has done that already). I suppose it's possible that they could order the game replayed from that point (Donald at the plate, 2 out), but I wouldn't expect that they'd reverse the call. (The official rules seem to refer mostly to protests of games that are lost on a questionable call, not to games like this.)
