Is it even worth it to ask about player/position competition, etc? They haven't even practiced yet with the coaches.  How could that possibly have changed since the spring?

Grad Assistants and Strunth staff will relaying information to the coaches.  But they'd probably want to see the progress/regression with their own eyes before altering the depth chart.

But you already knew that and the reporter asked a stupid question, again.

I actually believe there is a new rule that allows coaching staffs to have up to 8 hours per week with the players throughout the offseason to do whatever they want. Just no pads. I'm not 100%, but I think I remember reading that the other day.

If true, that means the coaches would have some sort of knowledge of the progress.

I'm also sure they hear back from other players and the S&C staff about who is standing out.

Do you remember those 49er's news conferences, when he spoke in a dull monotone and looked like a reject from the night of the living dead? He sure looks a lot happier now!

I'm happy that he's happy. Having a coach with a winning attitude is something to be happy about.

Love his answer to the guy from the Columbus Dispatch. "What things about the culture at Michigan do you want to change?"

"I Don't have that list in front of me. Hey, let's talk about Woody Hayes throwing reporters out of practice"
