Jim Harbaugh has Michigan Clause in his Contract?

Jim Harbaugh has a clause that allows him to leave to Michigan without penalty. Or so goes the rumor, passed on to me by a booster at a Pac-10 school that is not Stanford.

I hear all kind of rumors. The biggest recent rumor was a KU friend who had a friend who knew the AD and he said Jim would be coaching there now. Wrong! I don't see any coaching openings at Michigan any time soon. RR will get at least through 2012 to get our football program back on track.

Every time a potential coaching candidate comes up, do we really need the plethora of postings saying "we won't need a new coach, because Michigan will win 10 games next year, challenge for the national championship in two years, etc. . . ." Can't we assume it's a given that 99.9% of the people on this board want Rodriguez to succeed, and that, obviously, if we do well next year, he's not going anywhere? We don't need to state the obvious, anymore than we need to state that any possible need for a new coach is contingent on the earth continuing to rotate on its axis, because if the earth stops rotating on its axis mountains will collide, all land will be torn asunder, and the world will resemble Columbus on a bad day. While we all hope more than anything that the team does great next year and any talk of a new coach will be rendered moot, given the current state of the program it is certainly legitimate to discuss future potential coaching candidates. We get it, random posters, you're optimists and can't even imagine how we could ever need a new coach unless and until Rich Rod passes away without leaving a male heir. No need to restate the obvious in every post on the subject.

Jim Harbaugh will never coach at UM. According to the folks at GBW, there are factions that will keep him from ever coaching the Michigan Wolverine football team. In addition, there are factions within the factions that will do their best to fight off the Les Miles factions who will continue to try and split the Rich Rod factions. That's a fact(tion)!

Fear the "Balkanization" of the Wolverine fan base... In all seriousness, I can see the argument for blackballing Harbaugh. Yeah, he could probably win here. But so could some other people (most prominently, or so I hope, Rich Rodriguez).
