Jim Harbaugh compared to "a shot of Jack followed by a blast of cocaine" in Psychology Today

Submitted by Blueblood2991 on

Interesting read in Psychology Today that attempts to explain the nationwide infatuation with the Harbaugh hire.

In terms of neurochemicals, we can think of dopamine as a shot of JD, adrenaline as a blast of cocaine taken immediately after the shot of Jack, and the brain as someone that is not quite back from Woodstock yet. That is why we love an underdog and a long shot (the longer the better) because underdogs produce larger neurochemical rewards.[25-31] Harbaugh coming to Michigan was a mother lode of variable reinforcement, rich with dopamine and adrenaline for the brain.

I remember that drill - Harbaugh is explaining that when throwing on the run you plant with your right foot and throw with your right arm simultaneously. He did that in my town, just down the street a ways from my house

Did someone just try to drop the science on the science of Jim Harbaugh? If that's not getting Harbaughed, I don't know what is. That could rip a hole in the space time continuum. You just don't dabble in that type of voodoo, my friend.

I haven't even been drinking, but I need to go home and quit drinking...right now.

is like a shot of Jack Harbaugh followed by a blast of cocaine? Reminds me of characterizations of Jimmy Hendrix as a shot of rhythm and blues followed by a hit of acid.

Anyone see the NFL rookie show on ESPN.  As the TE from Minnesota was drafted by the Ravens, his mom asked him who the coach was.  He said "Harbaugh...the nice one".

Now, for a quick quiz.

The Psychology Today article on Harbaughmania was:

a.  worthy of a doctorate

b.  dubious "science" but a fun and harmless diversion

c.  an object lesson in why media  members should always password-protect computer access, especially when hiring summer interns from UofM who are leaving for campus this week

d.  all of the above.

Look, man, if there's one thing I know, it's how to drive while I'm stoned. It's like you know your perspective's fucked so you just let your hands work the controls as if you were straight.
