Jhonathon Williams to Notre Dame

Submitted by jerseyblue on

Just caught it on Scout's commit tracker. So much for Plan B after Hand.

and you are correct. I didn't mean for my post to appear to be sniping at the OP; I'm just grumpy about football lately and was annoyed by the content. Still... Jhon? Really? It's just impractical - everyone must spell that kid's name wrong.

but all indication tells me that MM is gone and even the staff knows it. I don't think we'll ever know how looking so bad on one side of the ball cost us. Not too beat a dead horse but I truly think Hand is here if we're even a one loss team but looked competent offensively (makes defense look better if up a few scores against scrubs and can attack as opposed to having to pay safe on defense.

but boo fucking who....U-M needs guys that don't give a shit about that and have an attitude of getting after it. Not fearful guys of what the offense might or might not do. Worry about your own side of the ball, if a recruit has a fearful attitude, take that crap elsewhere, I don't want to root for guys like that anyway.

I keep beating this drum:  we, the fans, are pathetic and need to quit whining...

and if you believe a player, especially a defensive player, chooses not to come here because of our offensive suck then you are myopic and ignorant.  Hand choose Alabama because they have the best coach in college football, play multiple marquee games, and will help him get into the NFL.  As for MM if he wanted to come here he would have.  And if he wants to go elsewhere good for him.   One player does not make or break a team...

man up, chumps.

When a kid who is as familiar with Michigan's program as MM is and whose parents want him to come to Michigan still cannot bring himself to commit, I suspect that he's looking for reasons not to come here. When you're looking for reasons not to make a decision, you're generally gonna find them, regardless whether it's college choice or anything else in life.

But I would agree that the downturn in our season can't be helping things.

If your big names crash, it time to go after commits at WI, IA, IL or other smaller schools across the country! A good 3* will probably hold the depth. We probably will not have a great recruiting class in '15 but I think after that the top recruits will pour in as we start winning more than 10 games a year.

put our eggs in one basket, go after all the guys that the staff finds intriguing and take the commitments as they come.

Fuck the guys that tease you and leave you dangling and all bummed out, Hand did what was best for him, well we need to do the same damn thing.

for sure just how confident the staff was in Hand. Offense, losses and all. I think not getting Hand truly left them stunned. I think they were more sure of him than MM. Class went from one that pulls in top kids on reputation for a couple years to losing Hand and having our best recruit (possibly best pure player in the country) issue a statement that sounds awfully "I've got to be ready to possibly change my mind, court or not."

Sadly, a sizeable portion of the UM fanbase, not to mention the tool AD, have given Michigan the reputation of an unstable program where coaches don't get enough time to do their jobs.

If Brady Hoke has proven anything, it's that he is a wonderful recruiter when he is given the full resources of an elite program.  David Brandon botched the RR era by making it obvious that he wasn't going to be retained past year three, but keeping him the entire season, which fucked up RR's last class and Hoke's first.

Brandon needs to stop being a loose cannon and somehow stop giving the impression that he is a poobah who wants to throw his weight around and meddle in playcalling.

It is the AD's job to make a lot of money for the program, and Brandon has proven that he is an expert at making money.  But it is also the AD's job to protect the flagship program, which is obviously football, John Beilein's success notwithstanding.

If David Brandon continues to undermine the football team by combining meddling with a gross lack of understanding of modren football, he should be fired.

who was the poster that claimed to know the family personally and claimed the father, due to a military background, wouldn't let his son flip from Missouri? Not calling out but he sounded pretty sure he'd stick with Missouri.

Trying to flip guys late is going to go poorly. The scholarship is just as good next class when the work can be put in early. I think one more spot if McDowell decides he wants to be coached by Mattison, as opposed to Narduzzi's successor or Fickell's successor. Both of those guys are heavy buzz to HC jobs. If not...then we save and bank. Go find a QB from California who wants to prep for his NFL career by playing/training in cold weather because half of the teams are firmly above the MasonDixon line, friends.

So why do you think they don't play above the MasonDixon line? Do you think mr Tom Brady is better prepared to play in New England than if he went to SDSU? My answer is obviously Yes. I lived 12 years there and I can tell you if you haven't been exposed to cold and snow in your life such as native sons and daughters, most would rather have 6 teeth pulled than live/travel in these here parts. I would postulate it applies to attending and playing college football games as well. A thinking man could see ahead of the herd and realize you might be living and playing there if your talent and body is of that caliber.

I'll ignore the fact that we currently have the 18th rated class in the country for 2014.  If we lose Peppers we'll fall out of the top 25.  I have to ignore that because I've been telling myself all season, "well, at least Hoke is a great recruiter."

But don't jump.  M has 16 total commits, where most of those ahead of us have 20 or more (Rivals based on total points).  On an average star rating, we'd be #12

And you're being selective.  ESPN has us with the #7 class.  247 #11

but was not good enough for Engineering school so bailed. Has nothing to do with success this year on the field. You c;an make this case after years 4 or 5 for a coach. MM was gone the minute I heard heavy Michigan lean. His loss but hopefully their choices work out for them. I would never trade the Michigan experience, connections, and education.

Some of us called it awhile back, that we were going to be losing recruits to this piss poor coaching & playcalling on the offensive side of the ball.
