Jesse Palmer Quote re Mattison on CFL

I don't know if anyone was watching College Football Live but Jesse Palmer just had some very interesting things to say about Greg Mattison. Below is a link of a transcript of the episode.

Here are the quotes:

Michigan and brady hoke hit a home run with greg mattison. He's one of the best people and coaches I've been around. He's a great, great recruiter, michigan needs that right now.

Greg mattison signed my brother to play at notre dame and best friend coached at the university offal ifful. Both told me greg mattison is not a good recruiter, he's not a great recruiter, he's legendary. Urban meyer told my best friend, stop, study and watch greg mattison learn how to recruit.

amazing

I'd assumed that Mattison's name would carry weight but his enthusiasm for recruiting would be modest, and perhaps his one weakness.  Very happy to be wrong.  I like the words coming out of Jesse Palmer's mouth.

If anything

He'll be an even BETTER recruiter now, because some kids WILL respond to that line. "You know, I seriously, honestly, really do know just what to do to turn you into a successful NFL defensive player."

Well,

You can get a good look at a coordinator by sticking your head up a recruit's ass...

No, it's gotta be YOUR coordinator...

I mean, what the hell is Jesse Palmer doing commenting on the CFL?  Also, what is wrong with you if you are watching Jesse Palmer comment on the CFL during January?

Nice!

That was one thing I was wondering about Mattison, if he would still have that urge to recruit after being in the NFL for a while. Good to hear he was such a beast back when he was still in college. After he shakes off some rust, I am sure he will be back kicking tail. Plus the whole "I coached the Ravens D" thing should be quite helpful...

Kind of nice to hear some

Kind of nice to hear some positive things about Michigan again. I was a RR supporter but after seeing events transpire over the past week, this was probably the best move for both parties. Bank the scholarships this year because next year we are going to fuck shit up.

Palmer

Is not the first person to say that.  Everyone says Mattison is an awesome recruiter.

If he even closes in on one or two DE/DL this year, I think he will prove it.

My #1 concern was recruiting

My #1 concern was recruiting with Mattison. I was terrified we had another Gerg who was old and just sat home without recruiting! To hear this makes me BEYOND excited, great X's & O's coach combined with badass recruiter = Extreme Jubilation.

I'm becoming overwhelmed with positivity with our program...Me Likey!

Don't know why you would be worried, the guy has a reputation as being one of the best recruiters in the county.

NRK - His recruiting was a complete unknown to me until these recent public backings. I knew he was a helluva coach, just didn't know that he was such a sniper on the recruiting trails.

Hopefully he has some blue chips in his cross hairs!

Maybe someone with photo shop skillz could give us our top targets in crosshairs!

Proven track record,

Proven track record, excellent recruiter, Michigan ties, bald, so he's basically the anti-GERG. Excellent.

Yeah but

you  missed "has always stressed fundamentals and technique."

To me, that's as anti-GERG as you can hope to get.

hmm.

I didn't see his tenure at the University Offal Ifful on his resume.  Weird.

I noticed that as well.

I noticed that as well. Maybe the team did poorly and he is trying to hide the record? Or worse, maybe the NCAA investigated Offal Ifful while he was there, and he didn't want to give Drew any ammunition to work with!

Transcription error, I'm guessing, for "Offal? I full."

One of the caterers passed by as he was talking and asked if he wanted some steer organs and viscera. I can't blame him for declining.

Jesse Palmer looks phenomenal.  In all seriousness Mattison is amazing and It's been longer than 4 hours, but I am not going to see a doctor.

Everytime I see Jesse Palmer

Everytime I see Jesse Palmer his shirt doesn't fit him, his tie is too short, and his collar shape does not go with his face.

Rivals Bio

http://florida.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?Coach=286&Team=21&Sport=1&Year=2006

From 2006...he's credited with the commitment of St. Tim Tebow.  FWIW, so was Dan Mullen...but hey, if he was even partially responsible for Timmy coming to Florida, then that works for me.  As far as I remember, Tebow was more of a Bama lean until late in the process...It's now closing time Mattison.  Go get em.

A Jacksonian review!

Both told me greg mattison is not a good recruiter, he's not a great recruiter, he's legendary. Urban meyer told my best friend, stop, study and watch greg mattison learn how to recruit.

Someone must have told Jesse Palmer to stop, study and watch Fred Jackson to learn how to gush accolades.  I love me some Fred Jackson hyperbole.

Looks like a good hire. Now let's hope he's up for some speed recruiting.

I think Fred Jackson would

I think Fred Jackson would have added in something about Mattison being able to wrestle Killer Whales while not spilling tea as he recruited the first and only ****** player who went on to win 5 Heismans and invent the NFL.

I am not convinced, I liked GERG 1.0 recruiting prowess

His ability to recruit a damn good hair stylist that is. I still have no idea if he ever talked to any football recruit.

is seems like when RR got fired evrybody was sayin "the future of the program is a mystery" and "they don't know what their doing right now, someone needs to save them". It's good to hear someone praising them for a change, but we won't accept the bandwagoners

Mattison coached in Canada?

The CFL is an awesome league.  If you can coach D there, you can coach anywhere.
