Jerseyz(?) Update: We Are Wearing 1974 Away (White Pants) Throwbacks This Season

Submitted by Tuebor on

I don't know if this is a jerseyz update or not but I heard that Harbaugh wants us in 1974 throwbacks for away game jerseys this year. That year the away jerseys had white pants. Personally I don't mind them.

I understand the traditionalist, I really do, but why would white or navy pants be frowned upon in the Age of Alternates? You've got teams with 3+ helmets, state flags, neon, dragon scale, just about anything you can think of, and now glow in the dark. We are complaining about white and navy pants, really!!!!? I think changing pant SOLID pant color is a way to offer some alternatives without throwing dumbass stripes on our shoulders! Lighten up people.

I can tolerate the idea of white pants as an alternate, but I'm kinda disgusted by the thought of them replacing the maize as our regular road look.  Looks so plain.

I think blue pants with the road white jersey would look great, but we can't even get that for one game.  Come on, guys... obvious alternate is obvious!

There was a time, not long ago, where I cared about apparel. I think that the over analyzing done on this board has made me numb to it.

As long as the gear is top quality and is maize, blue, and white I don't care.

I personally wish we would go to the early 2000's road uniform. I was a really big fan of the block M's on the side of the sleeves.

I received the MDen catalogue yesterday and the away jersey is white with blue numbers and the only stripe is solid blue at the bottom of the shoulder. Take Chunkum's photoshop above and remove al maize and that is what it is.No maize whatsover, no number outline and no stripes. Take it for what it's worth but that is what is in the MDen catalogue. I have no idea what the pants will be, but if they go white I'd like to see the stripes on the side like in the picture that the OP posted.

Meh.  I don't like white on white but at least there's some historical basis for it and lots of teams (Texas, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee) have done it or still do.

Not questioning the OP's sources, but is there a link that supports this claim?  I think all white is ok as a changeup, but untilI see it I hesitate to make that THE road uni.
