2:31 is all you need to see
i refuse to even consider this a possibility
2:31 is all you need to see
that was awesome. He's dragging 5 guys for more yardage. Putting on the hard hat and going to work!
reminds me of AJ Green. Perhaps with coaching he'll be just as polished in years to come.
Hmm...Hey Ace, didn't you trash @mspeedkills on here? And then you use his twitter to find these highlights in order to post them? Total douche move. I'm saw the tweet where Chesson's coach sent mspeed the video directly. You should source properly...rabble rabble... http://bit.ly/ujCh9u
I miss Tom, thank god ESPN Insider is so darn cheap!!!
I cosign this statement.
the "no bubble screens" policy until after NSD
Boy he can really go up and get that ball
He has a very sammy watkins type build. Yet still pretty skinny
In these highlights he looks significantly more explosive and shifty. Gotta like the progression. If someone asked me I would give him a fourth star.
all of our recruits 5 stars.
Right. Because I doubt any wide receivers from Missouri would be rated highly by the recruiting services.
So this kid played offense, defense, kickoffs, and kick returns. What didn't he do? How much is he going to benefit from only having to focus on being a receiver (and or returner if the coaches decide to use him there)?
Chesson is Sebastian Janikowski, Ed Reed, Jerry Rice, and Devin Hester all in one.
If you look at body size from junior to senior film he has put on atleast 10-15 lbs of good weight. On the one catch he's dragging 5 guys for about 7 yards. One of his big knocks is that he was thin and wirey. Umm they might need to recheck that statement.
Consider me impressed. He looks very underrated by the recruiting services based on this tape. Give him a year in a college strength program and he will be tearing up B1G defenses!
hoping he gets a little love bump now that he's a Wolverine.
Yeah, he's really fast. That's a really impressive film, no wonder the coache wanted him. He might not need a redshirt, he's good.
To be honest I'm more excited about him than I am Darboh (And I like Amara a lot). He's definitely got good speed and could be the best jump-ball receiver on our roster next year.
Edit: Also, why is this being downvoted?
DJ Khaled actually has 3 accounts on MGoBlog
I'm really excited about this pick up. I really think when it's all said and done people will wonder why he wasn't more sought after by other schools. Welcome aboard Jehu!
Why is everyone else running in slow motion....oh wait.
No, they just increased the frame rate in the video...for #5 only.
guy has an nfl frame like i havnt seen come to UM since Braylon Edwards. Definitely has some filling out to do but at 6'3 he has NFL written all over him. That kid is gonna be good.
This kid has quite a stiff arm for a WR. Good speed and great hands judging from his highlight video. Slap Diggs in the slot with Darboh and Chesson on the outside and we be goin' all DJ Khaled up in this bitch. All we do is win.
that's definitely on the high side of the 3*'s. Good size, good hands. Really good vision and running skills for a WR. Doesn't seem to have that top notch acceleration to really kill people on those bubble screens (ala wes welker, or even kenyon martin). He's not afraid of contact, so he's probably a decent blocker, gotta work on getting his pad level lower. Reminds me a little bit of Adrian Arrington, maybe it's just the body type. Should fit in pretty well with Borges' offense.
Yes, the high side of the 3's....like 3.999.
I could see this kid getting some time right from the start if he does well in spring and fall practices. I would love to see more warp speed out there...
"Hey, Jehu! Go deep!"
Il est francais, non? Chais-son!
I love the kid (#55) at 4:04-4:05 on the sideline who does a fist pump after Chesson is tripped up after a 55 yard return.
Ha - I noticed that too. It's important to have realistic expectations, I guess.
3 stars be damned. These coaches know they're doing, and I can't wait to see what the Darboh/Chesson dynamic duo will do for the team over the next 4 years.
Someone downvoted this post. I am upvoting for the cat alone . . . .
I'm not worried about stars. Mike Hart and David Molk were also 3* rated players. Also, two current 3* rated recievers are Junior Hemingway and Martavious Odoms.
Hemingway was a blue-chipper to ESPN and Rivals, but a three-star to Scout. I had to check on that, since I'd always remembered him being rated extremely high across the board.
ESPN had him as the 4th best reciever, so you are right there. Rivals was probably the lowest on him.
Sorry - mixed that up. He was a 4-star to Scout, 3-star to Rivals. ESPN actually had him as the number 19 player overall (!)
Obviously it would represent the absolute ceiling for the guy (well, for just about any receiver), but I can actually see what Ace is talking about with the Braylon comparison. Until I looked at the senior highlights, I wouldn't have though so, but Chesson seems to have come a long way.
In terms of background, Braylon was a high 3-star/low 4-star type, IIRC, and had a similar lanky build coming out of high school. Both Braylon and Chesson have track experience, though I don't think Braylon ran hurdles.
When I first saw Braylon at Michigan, he didn't strike me as particularly explosive, but he managed to eat up some yardage after the catch. Looking at that highlight film, I don't think Chesson is any slower than Braylon was early in his career.
Anyway, that's not to say he develops at the same rate and wins the Biletnikoff, but for a big, downfield receiver, the only thing Chesson appears to be missing is a bit more strength and elite speed. I agree that his rating seems strangely low, since if he had both of those attributes in addition to his existing skills he'd look like a damn 5-star.
Glad we got this kid. Welcome to Michigan, Jehu.
It appeared that many of the throws he caught were thrown high and just tossed up. He seems to be a good prospect.
I am not sure how to delete a post.
I don't think he went down on first contact throughout that entire video. Dude's a beast.
To say the least
I'm really impressed with this kid. He has size, and more speed than I expected. I think he's a great pickup for us. I know it's been said before, but Y NO 4 star? He should be rated higher. Can't wait for Jehu to be catching TD's in the Big House!!!
After watching his senior video, I have to say I prefer Jehu over Payton, Powe and Stanford. The only receivers we were actively recruiting that I think look better are Diggs and Burbridge. The wildcard for me is Madaris. He looks extremely elusive, but only moderately fast. Not sure how that will translate to the next level and if he'll be a stud or marginal contributor.
Can you say underrated? This kid is a steal for sure. Theres not doubt he'll become one of the top 2 targets for devin or shane in the future. Big time potential.
Hello everyone, I'm one of Jehu's coaches and I'm very excited about his decision to pick Michigan. It was a crazy ride for him from the time he received his first offer up until yesterday when he committed. Also, I'm the coach that made his highlight tapes and the reason that the same song has been on all of them is because that happens to be his "theme" song, so to speak ;).
Anyways, take care and I think Jehu will be a fantastic student-athlete for years to come and I'm not just saying that because I know him very well. I really believe that and I don't expect anything less.
Never been a Michigan fan, but uh........GOBLUE!
