No more of that OOftOO garbage.
January 16th, 2015 at 5:24 PM ^
Yeah, no more garbage about the OOftOO garbage.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:10 PM ^
+1 but you forgot the part about OOftOO breaking the story.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:11 PM ^
but realized that isn't quite my style of schtick.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:12 PM ^
It was never really that funny and was just biting off of what Brian said.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:14 PM ^
I would argue the point, but your avatar intimidates me.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:59 PM ^
You just described about 95% of the comments on this board.

Yeah, that's pretty weird. Anyone know if Harbaugh has had a listed QB coach at other stops, and he just serves as the de facto QB coach? Or is this unusual for him?
January 16th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
You can't read too deep into the titles. Jim is going to help coach the quarterbacks no doubt about that. But, Fisch is the PGC and coaches WR's... and you really can't coach the WR's without being around the quarterbacks. The positions intermix when coaching..then you add the PGC into the mix and now you have a coach who is helping out with both facets. If your going to coordinate the passing game you have to help coach the guy who is passing and the guy who is catching. I'm sure coach heck also helped somewhat even though he didn't have the title.
This doesn't mean Jim isn't coaching the quarterbacks. Also, it's good that it is this way, bc Jim is the HC and I would think he would help in other areas on the team while at practice, so he has a guy that can do it all if he has to step away.

Not anything new. Harbaugh has had QB coaches everywhere he's gone. He's still gonna do the majority of the work with the QBs.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:24 PM ^
Question answered. Thanks.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
No, no, no, just like Jay Harbaugh and the TEs, because Fisch is listed as QB coach, our quarterbacks will only be allowed to have contact with Fisch throughout their eligiblity.
Harbaugh will sit facing a cave wall somewhere in the wilds of the UP each summer, a fire blazing behind him, while Fisch and the QBs practice ceremonial drop backs, waggles, and audibles. Whoever's shadow displays the best fundamentals will start.

"Harbaugh will sit facing a cave wall somewhere in the wilds of the UP each summer"
I wouldn't be surprised if he really does that.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:47 PM ^
...It would be ideal.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:45 PM ^
Because Harbaugh wants the glory? He's already the head coach.
Fisch is coming from being a NFL OC and so being JUST a WR coach seems extreme. PGC, QB, WR lets him keep some positional cache while coaching with Harbaugh and Drevno.
Harbaugh will dabble in all things offense (except OL) with a focus on guiding QBs.
Fisch will focus on pass game, coaching QBs and WRs. He'll help Drevno out with pass game stuff.
Harbaugh JR will learn from Drevno, Fisch, and DAD! and will coach TE. Which make sense since TEs are involved in everything. Baxter will probably mentor him as well.
Wheatley will have the backs and take a big role in recruiting (presumably). Wouldn't shock me if he got a run game coordinator title at some point.

What will he hide in there?
January 16th, 2015 at 4:09 PM ^
Cache/cachet is like the hipster version of the loose/lose mistake.
January 16th, 2015 at 5:12 PM ^
And my mistake has lost all my remaining mgoblog cachet.
...But at least I don't use hipster to describe anything and everything that isn't completely commonplace and unexceptional.

Great catch!
January 16th, 2015 at 3:14 PM ^
Now it's time to reel in some recruits.

January 16th, 2015 at 3:55 PM ^
Worth celebrating....

"Bortles led all NFL QBs with a 7.48 average per rush"
If you're looking for a trivia question to stump your friends with at the bar tonight, this outta to stump them.

Thanks for that.

Its in the mgoblue announcement for Fisch
January 16th, 2015 at 3:24 PM ^
that one got by me. Well done!
January 16th, 2015 at 3:17 PM ^
How many college teams have even one position coach who has had prior experience as a coordinator, much less multiple position coaches? How many have a position coach who have been a coordinator in the NFL? Complain if you must about one or 2 of these hires (and I get the concern about nepotism with Jay), but holy shit. This is an embarrassment of riches, guys.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:19 PM ^
I don't feel embarassed one iota.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
thats what normal competent ceo's do, hire the best possible talent to surround themselves with and do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
harbaugh is a beast and hes hired an incredible staff (personally im really impressed with the DB coaches - 24 yrs combined NFL experience is nice recruiting pitch). just further reinforces how imcompetent and over his head hoke was
January 16th, 2015 at 3:23 PM ^
Nothing big, but they call out the coaches and say Billick when its a piccie of Belichick.
January 16th, 2015 at 3:26 PM ^
January 16th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
Our PSG/WR/QB Coach has more head coaching experience in the NFL than San Fran's head coach.
Awesome!
January 16th, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
A position coach with tons of NFL experience? It seems like there's a ton of those on this staff!
January 16th, 2015 at 3:52 PM ^
Everytime I see our glorious Harbaugh's name mentioned by mgoblue it is sadly followed by, the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach," which is driving me nuts. Does anyone know if this thing has term limits? Make it go away, It is highly irritating.
That said, welcome Jedd.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:34 PM ^
In fact, it's becoming more and more popular.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
Endowing coaching positions is a nationwide trend at this point. It's not worth getting worked up over.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:02 PM ^
So he'll be coaching WRs and QBs for PSG? I didn't know they had an (American) football team. Their Qatari ownership must really be big spenders to outbid us for him.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:05 PM ^
that sometime soon we'll have a legitimate downfield passing threat. Every team we played last year knew that there was going to be a short throw or a run, and they changed coverage accordingly.
Watching the playoffs sure made me miss seeking a Michigan QB throw a fast and accurate bomb 30 yards into the end zone.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:33 PM ^
We have a pass game coordinator to coordinate the passing, but who is going to coordinate the running? If no one coordinates the running then how will we ever run?!!!
January 16th, 2015 at 4:41 PM ^
Jedd Fisch looks and sounds like he should be in the movie industry, imo.
January 16th, 2015 at 4:43 PM ^
Adult movie or regular movie?
January 16th, 2015 at 8:16 PM ^
lol, just the regular kind
January 16th, 2015 at 7:58 PM ^
And again, as always, we are treated to the preposterous title in the website announcement by the "J. Ira and Nicki Harris" football coach.
Every time!
I hope I never meet J. Ira and Nicki Harris, because I'd tell them off for ruining something as timeless as the title of the Head Football Coach of the University of Michigan.
It ain't generosity if there are strings attached, publicity hound arrogant assholes.
