Yep, she will. Just like Walker's momma with her new Lexus, right? And I'll bet Peppers' momma has a nice set of wheels too, courtesy of a Michigan booster, right? It's all corrupt, all broken, and every good player's momma gets a new set of wheels. And even more if you go to Old Miss. /s

Ya know, I'm tired of assuming that every stinking player who goes elsewhere than Michigan goes because they're bought off. I know and realize that plays into things. But cumong. There is such a thing as wanting to stay within a couple hours driving distance of your family.

We expect so much of these teenagers. I don't blame them for wanting to stay close to home. Here are some stats for UofM:

  • 50% of students are in-state.
  • 12% come from part of the Big 10 footprint (IL, NJ, MD, PA, OH).
  • 7% come from China or India.
  • 6% from CA, 5% from NY.
  • 20% come from everywhere else.

Here's a link:  http://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/student-profile

There are a total of 3 students at Michigan from Mississippi. 6 from Alabama. 9 from Louisianna. While there are certainly more from TX and FL, you have to remember that there are many larger metro areas in both states, and more families with lots of money.

The point is, I don't even care about the fact that tuition and housing are "free" for football players.  I can fully understand momma wanting to see her son play, and the burden of that happening if he went to Michigan.

No, I can't twerk. I'm over 6'3" and north of 300 pounds. Twerking is not in my skill set. Has never been in my tool box. Will never be in my repetoire. Frankly, the thought of me twerking is somewhat obscene, but really, more in the realm of the absurd. Farcical. Ludicrous.

Oh, and as for my avatar, she can do some amazing things. Twerking is not among them.

I'm going to start commenting about how all our commits parents have new BMW's from now on. Apparently everyone else but Michigan pays their recruits and MICHIGAN is the only school that is righteous.

Ole Miss? yeah of course. Everyone else? sour grapes.

Texas is a fine, fine institution. Great academics, killer college town, historically great program on hard times. Don't be some willfully blind. It's easy to see why he chose Texas over Michigan.

Ole MIss yes. Texas no.

Lets give Charlie some credit here. He needs all the help he can get. Texas has a worse class than Houston this year... think about that for a second...

Texas might as well be Michigan in the south. Great academics. Respected coach with ethics. Rabid fanbase.

That combined with mom and grandma = Texas commitment. I can't fault the kid.

Now... if he randomly chose Ole Miss, that would just tell me all the academic, culture talk was for show..

When I lived in Austin, I had access to a couple UT insiders. The money flows just as freely there as it does at other schools. I think they do a better job of keeping it hidden from the coaches, because Charlie Strong is a legit good guy, but it flows.
Part of the problem for Charlie is that the money has not been flowing as freely for him as it did for Mack.

It has become a published story. That is the bagman article posters reference. But it's pretty simple, people put a lot of their personal and business money into a program to help it succeed legally. When things are not going as well as they like, they start putting even more of their personal and business money in to help their team gain an edge, but this time it's illegal. Now the beast has been created and it needs to be fed to keep it going. Who is going to publicly come out and whistle blow on some thing that will not only hurt the team they root for, but also make enemies of very powerful people in their community? It won't happen. To expand a little further, part of my access came from sitting in the Longhorn club during games. To even get in, you had to have donated over $100K/year. (To be clear, I was not the one donating). That's a small circle that can do that. It's not like you are whistle blowing on some unknown person. It's prominent people you have built up relationships with. Now someone like me comes along and gets a peek under the covers, if I tried to do anything, how far would it go? Nowhere, it's he said/she said and I never get into the longhorn club again. It's not like people are keeping ledgers and showing them off, it's all conversation and innuendo. And yes, it happens everywhere because there is no way for compliance to even know it is happening.

Sorry, sport, but UT doesn't need to cheat to get big time recruits in Texas.

Of course, it you have any proof...

Just like the crowd here who consistently claim that Ole Miss cheats. Show the proof, or just stop with the nonsense and grow up and accept the fact that different people choose different schools for multiple reasons.

What? Did Harbaugh cheat getting Bush out of Florida or Walker out of New Jersey??

Blake Countess Picked Michigan for Michigan

While Countess acknowledged that Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez is “on the hot seat,” his commitment to the Big Ten program went beyond his comfort level with the Wolverines' staff.

“Nobody really knows if [Rodriguez is] going to be there next year or not,” Countess said. “But going into this process, [I knew] college football coaches come and go. That's just how it works. My dad told me whenever I got a new offer that I should pick a school based on where I'd want to be if I wasn't playing football. [He said], ‘That's where you're going to be happiest.' With Michigan, I'm hoping Coach Rod is going to be there. If not, I picked a school that I like no matter what.”

Bummer, but it happens. We're fresh off of reeling in one of the top LBs in the country and one of the top RBs, and are in great position to reel in the best player in the country at any position.

We'll be alright.

At this point - given a chance - I would forgo another OL in this class to pursue LBs and playmakers. However, I would push hard for the Raulerson kid from TX - a 2 year Grad transfer would limit the immediate needs in 2017.

A most logical statement AZ Blue.  While we were hoping for at least one of the 2 OL prospects today, there is very limited room at the Inn right now.  Hoping for Dontavious Jackson and have a feeling the remaining spots will be filled by exceptionally talented kids who have potential to best meet team's long term needs.
