1: Walton

2: Caris

3: Irvin

4: Dawkins if you believe what you saw last Feb/March OR Robinson if you believe the Mark Donnal like hype that he is the 3rd best player on the team!

5: Doyle

I expect Walton to be at 30 min a night and Caris Irvin at 35 - thats how just Beilein rolls.  That doesnt leave much time in the backcourt for anyone other than Spike IMO - some 2 PG sets with Spike and Walton and some backup minutes for Spike behind Walton.  MAAR gets garbage time and plays on nites Walton or Caris get their 2 fouls early.

Beilein said Wilson is NOT a long term 5.  But he could be a 5 this one year.  I expect him and Donnal to fight for that backup 5 spot - winner gets the 15-17 minutes a night Doyle doesn't get.  Loser gets to play in the garbage time role or when one of the top 2 centers gets 2 early fouls or we play one of those teams with a very bad man at center who gets all our guys in trouble.

The 4 is just a big pile of competiton and unknowns.  Mo dude from Germany is a fit there, Duncan Robinson probably plays there some or backs up Irvin most nights at 3 (and plays more on nights Irvin gets into foul trouble) and Chatman plays there.  So depending on how much Dawkins can improve on everything he does other than 3 pt shooting, depends on how much minutes is left for everyone else.  Alternative narrative - Robinson is a wunderkid ready to take over DI basketball due to practice reports and crowds everyone else out.  I don't believe that narrative myself based on recent years hype.

One thing is clear about Robinson: he's a hell of a shooter. He beat Stauskas's shooting record in practice. I think he will probably get some playing time at the 3 position. Dawkins is likely a 4 with his current skillset.

I wouldn't count out Chatman. He had some big contributions toward the end of the year. If Chatman, Wagner, and Robinson live up to their potential in the next couple years, we will be very very good. If even one or two of those guys can live up to the hype we will be serious contenders. We've all seen what Beilein can do in developing talent.

this is hilarious because Cal is NOT good and their coach is NOT good at developing talent. It's weird when players talk about wanting to progress so much and often commit to coaches who are not even known for their player development.

well 2015 wasn't a stellar recruiting year for the basketball team thats for sure.   How the fuck does LSU have a top 5 or 10 class in basketball?   They have like 3 big time recruits and i thought i saw on EspnU that they had another top recruit that decommited from them?  How the hell are they pulling that off?

I'm glad he did not choose Kentucky.

Also, we will be fine next year. Dawkins is no slouch, he will have a big year. That's probably part of the reason why Brown did not commit to us: playing time.

"A rumor floating online is that they lost Brown due to a coach announcing his silent verbal before he Brown publicly announced. If you haven't followed the recruitment, within a span of about 24 hours the following things happened: Brown went from a heavy Michigan lean to rumored to be a silent UM commit, indicated he would announce next week, coach Alexander tweets some stupid tweet about the best players commit to the B1G after the silent (much like Jim's idiot son likes to tweet after a silent commit), Brown withdrawals the commit, deletes coach Alexander as a friend on twitter, the experts shift to a lean away from UM, and he publicly commits to Cal a few hours later."

Is there any truth to this?  Or complete crap?

I'm not sure I'm buying the BA tweet theory as a reason for Brown's decision, but that doesn't change the fact that you're right about social media. For whatever reason, it seems to bring out the stupid in people, including those who should know better, like everybody over the age of 22

If that's the case, then Brown is a prima donna. I can see why he'd be upset, but being upset enough to change a huge decision like that is a bit ridiculous.

On the other hand, I think Bacari should have known better. There was no need to make a tweet like that.

You're dealing with a 17 or 18 year old kid. Things that may seem trivial to a 30 year-old or a 25-year old may not be so trivial to him. If what was posted above about the turn of events is true, then a huge fail on the part of our staff. I wish they would take or monitor their Twitter/social media accounts. The only reason for that tweet was to make the tweeter seem "relevant" or "cool" and generate interest by hinting at something.

It sounds like a recruiting site is trying to cover their ass and justify their information and people's subscription fees.

It's much easier to say "we were correct, but michigan blew it" vs. "we were wrong and had poor/ made up info".

I'm not saying it's completely true but I posted yesterday well before his decision that a respected poster on the Kentucky board claimed JB commited to Michigan and things then unraveled suddenly. This may not be true but it was out there before the commitment so it's not a case of covering their back.

Seriously....now some of you are claiming bagman? Have some of you thought that someone got a hold of some bad information and they just ran with it? Makes sense considering how tight lip his recruiting has been. News that might not be true may be better than none ($) It's not like it hasn't happened before. The kid has all signs pointing to one and done. Him going to Cal doesn't necessarily mean bagmen were involved. He probably decided to take the year long vacation out in sunny Cal. Think about it....if you were a 18 yr old kid and you were virtually a lock for top of the first round, where would you go to fill in that?

This is really surprising. Mainly because his big factor in choosing was suppose to put an emphasis on player development. I'm not sure what to say. It's crappy, and it seems like aside from our class with Mcgary and GR3 we rarely get highly touted guys. I wonder why that is?

So people claiming that Cal is cheating, wouldn't that suggest that we too we cheating to make it into the top 2? I mean, if this kid is shopping his services he's going to want a bidding war right? Good luck to Jaylen, he seems like a good kid. Maybe he just liked the weather and academics at Cal better, and maybe he wanted to play with Raab.

I congratulate Cal on their fine requruiting class.  I think their staff is a new force in the Pac 12 and I think it is a little presumptuous to think they are doing anything unethical.  Coach Cal and even UK has a shadey history.  UM has a history too.  Granted I feel good about Coach Beilein and that he is doing this the right way but the coach at Cal has always had the reputation for being a good person and getting his players to perform.  I thought TN was crazy for letting him go.  Can you imagine how frustrated UK is right now?  I know I live in Kentucky.  Also, Couch Cal is under a microscope here. Yes UK treats their basketball players like kings but I believe it is all legit.  The housing facility is amazing!  I would also like to say the UK players as I'm sure is the case in a lot of situations are very endearing to the fans.  They are humble and really reach out to the community and are involved in many charitable organizations. Just saying.

this is another reason not to get hyped about recruits and to cement that we have no idea what they are thinking, 93% of crystal balls had him headed elsewhere.
