Jay Hopson is going to be the defense coordinator at Memphis. Being reported by both Joe Schad and Bruce Feldman on twitter.

Realistically, what are the chances that we can get Corwin Brown? I, personally, think he would be great for the program. We know his recruiting prowess. If RR hires a michigan man, it could send positive signals to the people who are doubtful of him.
I don't think Corwin is looking for a demotion, and I also don't think he'd help RichRod's image. Specifically, I heard rumblings that Corwin Brown isn't that popular among the old Michigan crowd. If true, then RichRod wouldn't be sending positive signals.
Frankly, I'll take a pass. I don't see it working out well. Personally, I think Corwin thinks too highly of himself to be a position coach. That's just me, though.
what has corwin brown shown that makes you think he's a good coach?
Nothing.

eenie meenie miney mo, catch a WR by his toe. if he scores six, let him go
This seems like a good move for both parties. Let's get Corwin to do some recruiting.
I concur.
I just did and they are both declaring for the draft now...OH NO!
Yes, he lists decisiveness and the ability to quickly diagnose a play among his best attributes

Facebook did tell me, however, that Donovan Warren is on his way to Miami for vacation. Oh, Facebook.

"Laundry list" for MMB's post:
14 words
2 "sentences"
2 omissions of capital letters
1 misspelled word
1 improper substitution of a homonym
1 omission of a punctuation mark
That works out to a fifty percent ratio of mistakes to words used in your post. I find it somewhat puzzling that someone who is posting as a member of the marching band would have that high of a ratio of mistakes to words used.
This begs a question:
Are you a drummer?
While we're correcting each others' errors--something that I applaud--you misused the phrase "begging a question."

Ah, the first branch of the Rich Rodriguez coaching tree. A promotion, no less!

Maybe GERG can coach all the LB's, as he did a good job with Brown and Roh. Can't say I'm disappointed by this news one bit.
Christ in me arise and dispel all the darkness.
Be careful what you wish for. It's hard to really know where responsibility lies among the coaches and players for the terrible linebacker play. I believe it is mainly speculation that was pinning the blame on Hopson. Just as last year with Shafer, the problems are not always that simple. This may set our linebackers back because now they will have a new position coach Overall, however, I am happy about this move because it will allow Gerg to have input in choosing his own coach, which makes it more likely that the new coach will be compatible with his system.
hopson really isn't a LB coach, he had to coach there almost out of necessity.
i agree with point 2.
point 3 isn't accurate, hopson was assigned to kids that were flight risks and he got unlucky. it also didn't help that we went 3-9 the year he had 2 DTs commit then de-commit on signing day.
i wish hopson could've been the DBs coach, which is his specialty, but i'm glad he's gotten an opportunity to show what he can do.
The other problem with Hopson was that he didn't follow Rodriguez directly from WVU like the other coaches on staff meaning he was from a different system and philosophy.
Many questioned his hiring from the getgo because he was a decent coach down at Southern Miss, but he wasn't great. I definitely think this is for the better and perhaps it was inevitable that we get a different coach for his position.
A wise man speaks because he has something to say; a fool because he has to say something. - Plato
is that he was on the Defensive side of the ball, and Shafer and Gerg didn't follow RR from WVU either. So now, we have a DC who has a different philosophy from the asst coaches he has and now will hopefully be able to bring in a LB coach he agrees with.
Now, I believe it's time to get a new DB coach.

You have a lot of nerve, going against a long-standing Michigan Tradition of scapegoating!
And besides, giving the guillotine to Shafer really proved to be the perfect tonic for what ailed UM football!

Not like there's anything else to do in Nebraska.
There's a post on another thread where I agreed with THREE things a guy said.
EDIT:
I do not think this staff needs Corwin Brown to help with recruiting. And I'm not so sure about his coaching abilities.
I may not exactly be "All IN" but dammit, I know this staff has its strengths, and I like 'em!

with apologies to "Unforgiven" as this is slightly paraphrased..
English Bob (played by Richard Harris): Well, I'd heard that you'd fallen off your horse, drunk, of course, and that you broke your bloody neck.
Little Bill Daggett (played by Gene Hackman): I heard that one myself, Bob. Heck, I even thought I was dead, til I found out I was just in Nebraska.
We ARE Michigan....COME GET SOME!!!
I actually agree. Part of the reason I'm excited for next year, in addition to Forcier having an additional year under its belt, is that we will finally have some continuity from the previous year, especially on defense. While Jay Hopson might suck, there is still a possibility that even a slight change in coaches, especially in the area that struggled the most, could hurt us.
I personally doubt it though. I think that position coaches might be responsible for getting players to correctly play in the DC's defensive scheme, rather than their own. If Hopson is doing a shitty job of that and someone else can do it better without changing around fundamentals too much, then it shouldn't be too bad. Someone with more knowledge re: the matter is more than welcome to correct me.

Does this effect our chances with Grimes and Murphy?

Corwin Brown, come on down!
