Jay Harbaugh sent out tweet, RE: Live Wolverine

Submitted by sierragold on

Jay Harbaugh sent out a tweet last night asking if it was legal to own a Wolverine?

Although a deadly animal, I have always thought it would be kind of cool to have a Wolverine at the U of M. Of course in captivity in a nice posh zoo like dwelling, but this would be very cool.

Apparently back in the 20's and I have not verified this U of M did have one on the sidelines caged, but it was so ferocious they never done it again.

What do you think? Would this be something that would ever be possible or totally nuts?

I wasjust trying to lighten the blog a little with all that has happened with the disappointment from the Frat's.

Which is good enough for me.

EDIT:  Speaking of buckeyes...did anyone see this story?  What a couple of classless jackasses (putting here because I don't think it deserves its own thread)

Here's one guy. Jon Peters (NTJPOTJPE)

And another

Jon Peters said despite recent rumors he has heard, he pays for all his tickets and sits in his assigned seat. This is his second year receiving tickets through the Buckeye Club and his fifth year with season tickets. For three years he received tickets through a personal friend, he said.

He said he works out a deal with “a guy he knows” when he gets tickets in the south stands at football games, which he prefers because “the students are a lot more active.” He said his often-front-row seat isn’t because of wanting TV time, but rather so he can sit when he wants but can still see the game. Jon Peters has now had a double knee replacement.

He's a Value City Buckeye having gonna to Terra Community College.

I always wonder how they end up in Row 1. I saw one of those clowns in Row 1 of the championship game I think. Do they really have a few thousand dollars to spend on away games for travel and tickets? I'd be a little surprised if they could afford that on their salaries from Burger King

We should just have a live twitter feed to the side on this website, kind of like how MGoBlue.com has a little section that shows anyones twitter feed related to Michigan sports.

I'm not a left wing person, but really hate the idea of caged animals. It's just not right, as wild animals should be in their natural environments. I suppose it's OK for endangered species, though. I like going to the zoo, but still don't believe they should be allowed. I know that sounds hypocritical, but that's just what I feel.

SOOOOOOO, we should not have a caged wolverine. OP. the word "wolverine" is not a proper noun when referring to the animal.

While bringing a wolverine to the Michigan games is unrealistic (for obvious reasons), I think the wolverine should be more involved with Michigan in general.  That is why my icon is the old Michigan logo with the wolverine on top.  The wolverine is awesome!!

Think about it, how much Michigan memorabilia actually has a wolverine on it these days.

I can't think of any except those outdoor hockey uniforms Michigan wore for the big chill and that really didn't even look like a wolverine to me.

I like to look through ebay at vintage Michigan clothing at it seems the wolverine was much more widely used in the 70s through the 80s.

What do you guys think?

Radio tracking suggests that a wolverine can range hundres of miles in a few months.  There is no "posh zoo like setting" that would possibly be good for a wild wolverine.

However, if an animal requires a habitat that large, then the detrimental impact on such an animal caused by confining its living area would likely be greater than the detrimental impact to the beautiful wildlife in captivity requiring smaller sized habitats.

It would never fly in Ann Arbor. Far too (politically) liberal an atmosphere. I wouldn't want that anyway. Sure, it would be cool, but our hypothetical little special friend deserves freedom.
