Submitted by Bo Schemheckler on

number 8 is certainly the best reason

Paraphased:

1. we're really good at using TE's
2. can wear number 8 and 30,000+ more fans will see it every home game(not in the letter: Bellomy probably not coming back)
3. EDIT: list of many NFL cities nearby to scout you
4. we have a good QB
5. best public school in america
6. most wins ever
7. biggest Adidas contract = more swag
8. WE WILL WIN

And 1, and 4, and 10, and 7, and 20, and 6, and... and...

Did anybody care when Biakabutuka wore 21?

That Terrell wore 1?

If a kid wants a number and it's there to be worn, he should get it. He should also know who notable wore it before and what they did.  Then he will know that if someone else wants that number, they will remember him.

Retiring jersey numbers is stupid.  It's about The Team, The Team, The Team... not The Number.

Per their 2014 roster UCLA had two number 8s already, a running back and a DB, and FOUR number 10s, two of whom are quarterbacks.

I think they wouldn't mind giving Clark another #8.

Yes but one #8 on offense and one on defense isn't an issue, as they wouldn't be on the field at the same time. And same with two QBs, because you only have one QB on the field at a time. A QB and a TE wearing the same number isn't that same scenario. Maybe he could be told that he will be given the #8 after Bellomy graduates in a year? Seems like a good compromise.

You left out a very important part "I promisie you we will win and GROW together".

A special place and a special time - but also a very special opportunity.

Hope he comes.

I agree with this sentiment completely. Would it really be that hard for a top 100 player to get in touch with the media and have their announcement televised on a day that isn't NSD? Frankly I'd prefer that if I were him, so that your story doesn't get mixed in with all the others committing on signing day.

well look at it this way -- after he commits, schools hold HIM hostage by forbidding him from making money off of his fame or skills for 4-5 years while the schools profit from his game to the tune of millions and billions of dollars. So, yeah, so unfair of the kid in the recruiting process.

Then he isn't serious about football and is more into the weather etc: I live here in So Cal and I would choose UCLA over USC 100 out of a 100 times if all I cared about is the weather, campus, girls etc: But if I am serious about football I choose Michigan with there rock star coach who churns out TE to the NFL like crazy! If he picked us now it would help with other recruits and help them to jump aboard!

9) We have the best helmets in college football.

10) We have the best fight song ever written.

11) Not only will he be seen by more people in the stadium, but he will be seen by more people on television. This is because West Coast games are played later in the day, to smaller audiences, especially in the East and Middle parts of the country, where the fans have gone on to do other things after watching the earlier games.

12) Michigan does not have earthquakes or tidal waves.

13) Those "so called" hot Asian UCLA women are actually transvestite Phillipino men.

14) Our coach will still be here in three years.

15) Here, he has a chance to beat Ohio State, and make Urban Meyer cry, and eat cold pizza.

16) Two Harbaughs are better than one.

The New Madrid fault is on the boarder of Arkansas and Missouri and a good six or seven hundred miles away, an earthquake from there would only cause slight to moderate damage in A.A., unless it was a catastrophic, end of the World, type thing, and in that case, no one would be safe.

The entire L.A. area is like a broken pane of window glass consisting of faultlines that intersect in L.A., and an earthquake from one of these may cause catastrophic damage, and even death, in Westwood, which is more likely than one from New Madrid doing any damage or inflicting death in A.A.

Well this can't be over soon enough. For those who are well traveled - the Big 10 has some great college towns. That's where you want to go to college. When on Pac 10 campuses they don't even have a college feel. Now many of those towns are great to live in after college. JMO.

The points in the list are either obvious and well-known, or they're entirely subjective and/or not provable. That's sales, I guess.
