Jay Glazer: Raiders still strongly in play for Harbaugh.

Submitted by SalvatoreQuattro on

John Clayton: Harbaugh to Michigan 100%.

If there is a better example of how poor the reporting has been in this saga I haven't seen it.

Basically, the NFL writers don't know a thing.

I got the impression that he says Harbaugh is keeping his cards close to his vest, even though Feldman basically reported it's a done deal. Glazer also didn't rule out the RAiders, just that they'll be waiting for his decision. Which at this point sounds like official

Just like I'm still strongly in play for Kate Upton---she's still single, I'm divorced, and the two of us actually had eye contact in her hometown (Stevensville/ St Joe area)  just over a year ago (True story!).  Until she's Mrs. Verlander, I'm in the running.

Sam Webb disagrees (this maybe should be a new thread):

Glazer has come across as very professional and cautious. His sources are obviously nfl guys and he is being fed the nfl side of things. I don't think he's wrong, the raiders probably are waiting for jh to tell them no.

I really hope nobody takes this as political or saying anything about the war, but if you look Baghdad Bob up he's got a kind of crazy life story where he went from low level party guy to being on TV in front of who knows how many people almost instantly. The US captured him and released him almost immediately because nobody thought he had any insider info and he ended up working as a talking head for a big news outlet in the middle east a couple years later.

Uh, Jay, Jim HAS told Michigan.

Glazer just tweeted this:

"Anddddd I'm saying Raiders are still hopeful they have a shot at him and will be until they are told by him or his people he's going to Mich"

Glazer's sources are people in Oakland management.  They say they will make a run at him, which makes them still in the hunt.  Harbaugh will tell them no thanks, but don't hate the guy for reporting there is still interest from the Raiders.

that a number of people in the media are merely shills. . . If Glazer is making ridiculous comments like this, either a) he's very very stupid or b) someone is having him act as a conduit so that these are actually messages being sent out to the Harbaugh camp.

All the years of watching west wing has made me conclude the latter possibility.

I get the feeling the Raiders *think* they are still in it, and the NFL reporters are getting their info from that organization and not actually from Harbaugh.

Michigan plane in Bay area to bring Jimmy and the family home! Well done Mr. Hackett!

Did Clayton show any humility over how wrong he's been? He was on Detroit's 105.1 a couple of weeks ago at most. Was asked about Harbaugh and he only mentioned NFL jobs...Oakland, the Jets, etc. The host had to prod him about Michigan and he very dismissively said no, no chance.

It's because the NFL writers are paid to spin things in favor of the league. That Michigan was able to steal a coveted coach away from the almighty National Football League is not a storyline they want to run with. Their "reporters" and "insiders" have battled this all along, and the fact that major newspapers and networks have published their "reports" as actual news is as glaring an indictment of the sad state of the shoddy, rush-to-publish-first, click-based media as any I've seen, and I'm in the business. We win. They lose. ###

Yep. There's been way too much speculation by the traditional media.  I'm also a journalist (in television news) and I'm surprised at how wildly different the reporting has been. It seems like some reporters are assuming things will play out a certain way and not bothering to check with multiple sources.

Journalists in general take a lot of flak, but a number of sports reporters on this story deserve it for practicing irresponsible journalism. They make all journalists look bad.

he just backtracked and said Feldman and Bacon are more reliable than him..so it's probably just bullshit
