Jason Lloyd still has Tressel's blood on his keyboard, great article

Jason Lloyd is a columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal, he is well known especially in northeast Ohio and the Cleveland area.  He was one of my favorite sports columnists.

Jason absolutely kills it in this article, and before he wrote it he even tweeted, "Attention OSU apologists:  Don't read tomorrow's column in the ABJ.  Then we'll kiss and make up before next Cavs game. Deal?"

Some quotes :

-"Typically, lying to all of those people is a fireable offense — it's even written into his contract as such. But Tressel is returning to work today as the football coach at Ohio State University because of six consecutive Big Ten championships, a 9-1 record against Michigan and a national championship soiled in the same stains that cloak the program again today."

-"School officials didn't discover the e-mails until stumbling upon them while investigating a separate matter. Otherwise, it's fair to assume Tressel never was going to come forward with his knowledge or the e-mails.

He would've simply strolled through life and pleaded ignorance, just as he did when Clarett was cashing in with cars and Isaac and Troy Smith were taking cash payments from boosters."

Their president may have his head burried to the shoulders in Tressel's ass, but there is no way that the elected officials of the state can possibly be okay with this much bad press/illicit activity.

They're elected officials from the state of OHIO.

Politicians only act when that action has an affect on their re-election.  Coming out against Tressel is a career ending political move.  There is no morality in politics.

If you mean politicians, I can tell you with zero equivocations that none of them will touch this with a 10ft pole(I happen to be married to a state government official, herself an OSU grad, saddened by this..or perhaps annoyed with my laughter).

From what she says, most politicians figure that adressing this issue can only harm, and will in no way help their re-election prospects...and since this is a no politics blog I will not add what I think of the fact that all politicians really seem to care about is re-election

I am so giddy, like a kid in a candy shop! BUT, I have to keep reminding myself that it's quite possible the impotent NCAA will do close to nothing. Then I get bummed out. Then I need another article like this one. It's a vicious circle!

The Comments section of that article is priceless as well. They of course range in spectrum from the "Blind-Tressel-Is-God" comments to the "Did Tressel kick your puppy, Jason?"  and to the "welcome to D-1 college football everyone does it now stop throwing our BELOVED program under the bus, asshole" comments.

Columbus went from DEFCON 4 to DEFCON 3 overnight,  Im sure of it. We need to get the Michigan National Guard to the border now so they are ready for when the bus-boy/trucker/janitor/OSU alumni start marching north claiming a Michigan-led conspiracy.

This is one of the best pieces I have ever read.  First, he completely dismantles Tressel's BS.  The confidentiality request was so tiny, so insignificant, that to hide behind it is insane.  To say he couldn't suspend the players because it would arouse suspicion to the investigation, why not do the "violation of team rules" penalty.  The article just dismantles all of his "defenses" in an epic way.

Furthermore, to write this in an Ohio paper, I mean wow.  This guy has balls that most men only talk about.  Seriously, bravo to this dude.
