Jarrod Wilson Offered

Submitted by JC3 on

Jarrod Wilson is a 6"2, 190-lb Safety prospect from Akron, Ohio. Hoke and his staff have been busy offering prospects, and Wilson was offered today.

At this point Michigan does not have a true free safety on their roster. Tamani Carter is slotted to play there, and Troy Woofolk could play there as well, but Wilson would be a perfect fit at free safety. He is the definition of a center-fielder, and he's got great ball skills. Plus, he's 6"2, and will be able to play at 200 pounds in college. Win.

Illinois, Indiana, Toledo, and Michigan State have offered. Marc Givler, who scouts Ohio for Rivals, said Wilson is likely a top 20-25 player in Ohio, and a great offer. I'll try to talk to Jarrod soon, but this offer was big.

He didn't receive his first offer until two days ago, and is just now making his way onto recruiting lists. Gurus are calling him a darkhorse candidate for best Ohio safety in this class. I'm guessing nobody knew about him until his coach sent out video this week.

If that's not considered "under the radar" to this point, I'm not sure what is.

Bam Bradley is more of a SS than a centerfield FS type.  Bradley is said to have the speed and athleticism to play FS, but he is such a big hitter that most people see him at SS.  He is 6'2-3" around 200 and he might be a candidate to possibly move to LB.

He gets lots of hype for being one of the top prospects in Ohio for the 2012.  What is surprising is that according to rivals he only has two offers.

I think he is now known as the Go Blue!!!11!!! guy.

Duane Long said that Bradley has the tools to be compared to Taylor Mays who played at USC.  If the comparisons are correct he might be able to play FS, but Mays was just a freak athlete and was considered an athlete by the recruiting services.  IIRC, Mays actually played SS or closer to the line of scrimmage in his last year at USC.

FWIW, Long also said that he would recruit Bradley as a linebacker.

Yeah, we all want guys who are top 5 at their position.  But just because they aren't top 5 at their position doesn't mean we don't really want them.

The top safety that Florida signed in 2011 was #10.  The top safety that Notre Dame signed was #15.  The top safety that OSU signed was #25.  These are all teams that take talented players.

You don't need your guys to be in the top 5 at their position to win games.

I agree, we need to jump on Bradley now! Get the head start on Ohio St. while their slacking and get in good with the kid. I"m actually kind of surprised we haven't offered by now, especially when were not real deep in that area to begin with.
