Jamal Cain Offer (17) Reaction Part 2
Think you guys will certainly enjoy this.

... I guess...
It was the very end of the visit and we were sitting down with Coach Beilein and he said ‘what would be your interest level be if I offered you a scholarship?’ I said 10 out of 10! And then he said ‘how would you feel if I offered you a scholarship?’, and I said good! Coach Beilein then stood up and said ‘I’d like to offer you a full scholarship to U of M’, and shook my hand.
While I personally tend to glaze over the background stories that go with recruiting, it is fun to stop and read one now and again. I read Cain's just now and I thought that was actually kind of a fun way to introduce the offer on the part of Beilein, and the praise for Beilein as a person is always great to read no matter what you might think about the state of the program.
Beilein's ethics, especially in his commitment to educating and "growing" his players as human beings, are the program's main calling card. I am guessing it's why Michigan occasionally ends up in the situation of one parent (probably the mom) wanting her child to go to Michigan while the player and/or his dad want him to go to a school with active bagmen.
Even when the season is disappointing, Michigan can always cliam "higher moral ground" under Beilein.
It just takes gullible fans and an acceptance of mediocrity.

I think the Main draw is the quality of the education, campus, athletic department, fanbase, and rich history of the bball program, not to mention Beilein's excellent track record since arriving at Michigan.
Beilein being a straight-shooter and rule-follower is a nice bonus, but it's a bigger thing to fans I think than recruits.
I like his Aunt's reaction at the end.

So will he commit soon? His only other offer is from UDM.

Jamal picked up offers from Florida State, Marquette, Cincy, St. Bonaventure, Boston College, and UM this week alone. Already held offers from Xavier, Georgia, Washington State, Northern Kentucky, Oakland U. and UD prior to this week. I think its safe to say Jamal is blowing up and will receive several more high major offers over the course of the next 2 months and is well on his way to top 100 status.

Gotcha. 247 is lagging on his recruitment then. They only have him ranked #190 overall with only UM and UDM having offered.

And according to 247, Beilein has only offered three total players with one commitment in Jordan Poole. Looking at other teams, MSU has currently 11 offers on the table, Duke has 12, UNC has 8, OSU has 7, Indiana has offered 25(!) players...why have we offered so few players?

A Michigan offer means something. I like that.
Beilein is very open about his offer policy and I've never heard a kid make comments that it hurt Michigan.

That is a family that either has their priorities in the right place, or they should be doing PR for all of the Presidential candidates----or both. I'm guessing (and hoping) the former.
Very good interview. Sounds like M is in a strong position but we'll have to be patient while he looks into his other options. Hopefully it works out well for the good guys.
As I said in the other thread -- if Beilein wants a wing or guard this early in the cylce, WE want that wing or guard at Michigan. Good things tend to happen.
