MLive quoted bits and pieces of that interview here - LINK

I will say that he did move quickly to quash the latest round of rumors. For the board's reference, here's the full quote:

"I've always said I'd never say never to anything because you never know what it brings," Izzo said. "But I've so much more work to do here. I have a great president, a great AD in Mark Hollis and a football coach that I really get along with. So this is a pretty good place for me right now. We're in a pretty good spot. Program's in pretty good shape. So, ain't broke, why fix it?"

Thanks!  I've wondered about Izzo's relationship with Dantonio for  a while.  Specifically, is Izzo acting like a complete wanker this year because of the attention and success of the football program?  This was a pretty know problem at Michigan during the Frieder/Bo days.  Why bother mentioning it if it isn't a problem.  Quelling speculation?  Bullshit.

Jalen has been coy about this on a few occasions recently. I don't know, I kinda love to hate him at MSU and I'm completely apathetic to the NBA.

I hate me some Izzo, but don't think he's a dumb guy.  Taking the Pistons job would be the definition of dumb.  Izzo is a terrible fit for the NBA and the Pistons are a terrible team with a clueless owner.  The only thing that could make a yell-at-em college coach take the Pistons job is an enormous ego....waittttttt a second...

I don't want Izzo to leave; I want him to deal with the Weird Guys next season.  Let's see if he's a great coach, one who can take a team that loses 3 star players and still wins the B1G by 3 games.  I don't know if he's that guy and it'll be great to watch him Crean it up in 2014-15.

I also was a Pistons fan when I cared about the NBA.  Of course, when Dumars passed on Burke, I gave up on the Pistons as well.  If they hired Izzo, I'd be done with them for life (not just because I hate Izzo but because I think he'd be a terrible hire).

However unlikely it is, I'm still rooting for it. As much as we (I) like to make fun of him around here, he's a damn good coach. I'd love to see him leave a team I hate and join a team I root for.

Whatever Jalen says, the opposite will happen. He's not the most intelligent guy in the world in case you all have been living under a rock for 25 years.

Jalen's probably done more to explain, to people who care to listen, how the daily life of athletes (at home, during road trips, in the off season, and during games, in the beginning of careers and at the end of careers) actually occurs. In so doing, he's spread a great deal of knowledge and understanding to the world of sports fans, from a perspective that's too often guarded and hidden (for good reason).

I'd suggest that, whatever your perception of his intelligence (and I think you're deeply wrong and listening to him on countdown or on a podcast will reveal that pretty quickly) he's deepened our understanding of the social lives of athletes and, more generally, sudden wealth.

You however...

If I had a nickel everytime Izzo was linked to a Pistons opening... Anyways, assuming Izzo does for some reason leave the "luxury" of EL, which Izzo disciple takes his place? Wojcik (does he even coach anymore), Mark Montogomery? Does Crean dare leave a destination school, or do they bring in someone else?

I remember when the core of the 2004 team aged and thought their shit didn't stink and became a bunch of whiners, spending more time complaining to the refs than anything else.
Do not want that culture to return to the Pistons.
Do not want Tom Izzo.

Are you really contending that a guy who has been to 6 final fours and won a national title in 20 seasons as a head coach at a program with limited success before his arrival isn't a "threat"?  I dislike the guy as much as anyone, but you can't deny him success.  The rational position for all Michigan fans is to want to see him leave and take the pretty good chances that the next guy won't be as good.

I'm contending that with John Beilein we're more then well-equipped to take on that "threat" and have proven it over the last four seasons.  (I'm not sure why you quoted that word because I didn't use it.)

I think the rational thing is not to care who the coach is at Michigan State because I think Beilein will beat them more often than not.

I put it in quotes because I don't think it's a great word but it seemed to best sum up your position.

I too think Beilein is a great coach, and ultimately I think he's better than Izzo, but why in the world wouldn't we want a guy coaching MSU who is likely going to be worse than Izzo?  His teams are going to likely always be at least as talented, if not more talented, than the team we're fielding, so I think it is in our best interest if MSU doesn't get to retain that advantage.

I can see Izzo making the move for the Piston's GM role but not to coach anywhere.  Who thought Bo would leave to be a GM in BASEBALL, but he did.

Izzo looks ill and more annoyed with the college grind than he usually does.  With virtually  no talent coming in the next 2-3 yeas, he probably doesn't want to go out with teams that aren't up to his usualy standards.  It's a cake job that a moron like Joe Dumars rode out for almost two decades.  That's probably what Gores is telling him anyway.

Worst case Jalen is probably just trolling MSU, and  timed it to creates some buzz or headlines and throw MSU off in the tournament, if not turn off a recruit or two.

Well done Jalen.

Izzo would burn out faster than Doug Collins in the NBA.  He is built for college.  I dont get his flirtations with the NBA at all, whatever team.   Guys like Crean and Izzo and Bo Ryan are built for college.

EDIT:  Guys like Izzo and Bo Ryan are built for college.  Crean is built for HS.

Yeah the guy who happened to have Michael Jordan on his team.... that helps.

I didnt say Collins is not a good coach. And I didnt say Izzo is not a good coach.  I say he will burn out like Collins.  Collins lasts 3-4 years at a place and then burns out in flames, and his players get exhausted from him.  He hasn't lasted more than 4 years at any location in the NBA I believe.  The same would happen to Izzo.

I feel like this would be bad for us. Izzo appears to be losing steam at MSU and that vacancy would attract a big name coach and give them a lot of needed recruiting momentum.
