Jalen Rose Fires Back
Jalen Rose breaks silence on Chris Webber, calls him "delusional" and "still in denial" http://t.co/mMQB9yf6wD pic.twitter.com/teu5c9Ny3O

I would suggest to give Maize N Brew the click because there is much more over there.
5-13-15 RIP Fab 5
We don't need a banner reinstatement -- it's not like they won any championships at any level anyway... but to have them (minus Webber) on campus, halftime at Crisler, etc., would be nice.
He basically made it sound like he would rather have played for State than Michigan in the Dan Patrick interview. Fine. Just renounce Michigan once and for all and let's be done with each other. There's no love lost on my end.

If Webber just apologized, I guarantee that he would put about 99% of his haters to bed. I think Jalen is spot on here about C-Webb, but it's a pretty sad situation all around.
In Webber's mind the U of M exploited him, but he should really be mad at the NCAA... and himself. He was the one who lied to a grand jury and took money after all. Webber let a lot of people down, including his coach, his teammates, and the fanbase.
Jalen took money, yet he is still adored by the fanbase because he admitted it and has represented Michigan with class since. Would it really be that hard for Webber to do the same? At this point, he is lost in his ego... he still has a chance to change that. I don't think he's necessarily a bad guy, just stuck in a situation he doesn't know how to get out of without losing a lot of face.
I wish Webber would acknowledge his mistake, perhaps donate to the University, so he can regain his relationship with the University of Michigan. That would be ideal, but I am not sure it will ever happen.
The one who loses the most in this situation is Chris himself. Because he hasn't reconciled his differences, he can't celebrate and be acknowledged for what he did contribute to U of M. He is going to constantly be looking at his past negatively- it's never good to carry that kind of baggage.
I will say that I will ultimately have more respect for Chris if he apologizes after all these years than if he had apologized right away. It is much tougher to apologize now, given the stand off.
Jalen took money and told the truth to the grand jury. But it wasn't tens of thousands. He would get $50 here and there while in university, but most of it was when he was a poor youth growing up playing ball in Detroit - like a lot of kids did encluding the kids who weren't good enough to go to college. Martin bought shoes for tons of kids in the area.
Jalen has been very honest about these things, and I respect him for it.
Webber took hundreds of thousands... not just tens.
If you believe Jalen only took $50's here and there, and Webber took HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS... I have beachfront property in Idaho I would like to sell you
King says he still does not know why Chris is distancing himself from the rest of the Fab 5. He said that Chris is flat out lying about being asked to join in the production only a week prior to it beginning.

Webber was an awesome physical talent, but the best ever? Glen Rice has to be in that conversation.
Of course he DID score with (a young) Sarah Palin so there is that too.

It's not up to Jalen to tell them when and how to fix things... the Webber problem is one bigger then just get over it. When your family is dragged into all this mess over the years, and the finger is pointed directly at YOU and no one else for the failure of the program... it's a slightly bigger problem. Personally I feel its a University vs Webber problem, not a Jalen Rose issue.
Michigan forgave Webber for the timeout. I remember when the team returned from the title game and held a rally at Crisler. The crowd cheered for Webber and begged him to return for another year. No serious fan or alum held that timeout against him. Ever. It was a terrible mistake and most of us felt bad for Webber rather than being angry with him.
Years later, he lost a lot of support because of how he handled the Ed Martin scandal. Webber lied about it and even committed perjury. That made the situation more difficult for himself and the university.
I've always cut Webber a lot of slack about the Martin thing, until now. After reading about the Dan Patrick interview (I can't bring myself to listen to it), I'm done with Webber until he apologizes for taking money from Ed Martin and staining Michigan's reputation. And I don't think that will ever happen.
As for the hints about wishing he'd gone to State? After today, I wish he'd gone there too.
Want to know what it really means to be a Michigan man? It's someone who puts their university, their team, their family and their friends above their own interests. A Michigan man is a leader who eats last. A Michigan man is someone who does the right thing, even if it has painful consequences for them.
Chris Webber went to Michigan. He wore the maize and blue. He represented the university on one of the biggest stages in sports. But, over time, Chris Webber has shown he is not a Michigan man.
Jimmy King on Weber: (paraphrased)
"I think he has personal issues. He likes a little drama obviously carrying on with certain things, relationships that could have been handled years ago. It's a personal character flaw that he has. Just over the years of dealing with him trying to talk with hin and speak with him. Nothing's really hanged. People who are smart enough and close enough understand situation. The quote that hes saying that we're trying to make it about ourselves is actually about him. So really he's exposing himself."
Jimmy King also makes it clear that Weber did not tell the truth about the timing of the documentary and asking him to be a part of it. Jimmy King calls them "100% lies" and blames it on Weber's "character flaws." King is both "embarrased and dissapointed" with how Weber has chosen to handle the entire situation since he left the university.
Jimmy King was calm and reasonable. Respectful but unwavering.
Damn.

It was during their draft for the 2014 Rising Stars Challenge, when CWebb picked Trey to go along with Tim (at ~6:45).
That Izzo cried when he did not land Webber to MSU. Maybe Izzo had a breakthrough and finally admitted that he is a whiny crier and has come to grips that he has a problem in that area.

Fuck off Webber - persona non grata.

They should settle it on the court, one on one.
Webber IS delusional! http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/2015/05/14/beard-fab-five-feud-gets-nasty-before-healing-can-start/27302761/
My whole thing is that it's always been about us five
Really Chris? How much money did YOU take??? Not Jalen. You! How much money did CWebb take?! Fuck you Webber, I hope you never set foot on campus again.
Why can some of you guys give Steve Fisher a pass? Lol I find it quite odd, that some posters can direct so much anger towards Webber yet be compassionate towards Coach Fisher. Are we really going to be that naive, to believe that Fisher or Perry Watson had no clue about anything that was going on? The night Traylor flipped his suv, he took Cleeves to see Martin... are we really going to act like nobody else knew about this? Open up your eyes people, stop trying to point the finger at one individual as he is the main reason the program got in trouble.
Also Jalen should probably take a step back. The disgust has never been aimed at him or any other ex Wolverine like it is towards Webber and once again this is not about YOU Jalen.
