Jalen on with Bill Simmons

Submitted by Ziff72 on

Just curious if anyone has heard the latest BS Report on ESPN with Jalen.  Jalen paints a picture of Ed Martin quite different from what I have always heard.  It's really quite interesting.   His claim is that Ed was a guy that helped kids stay off the street.  Kind of an uncle figure and that he had no connection or influence with Michigan.

I didn't want to start a new thread because not a big deal, but I was listening to Cowherd (yes, I know) and he was making a big deal about something that Jalen said about Duke recruiting him and types of kids they recruit.  I didn't get to hear the whole thing. He seemed to agree with Jalen's comment. Anyone have the details on this?

I think nearly everyone agrees with the comments about Duke - their players tend to be white or affluent black.  Inner city kids don't often get a look from Duke.  I believe Jalen and Co. continue to point out how much they hated Duke.  Ah, don't we all?

He was on OTL yesterday was well and said that he hated Duke because he thought they only recruited uncle toms.  Basically, the only black kids that got a good look from Duke were the affluent ones from good families.  Like he specifically hated Grant Hill because he said he was kind of jealous and bitter of Hill.  Hill had the good family and everything that Rose didn't have growing up in the inner city with a single parent.  And consequently he got recruited to Duke.  He sounded like an angry kid.

His loyalty to Ed Martin runs really deep.  He wouldn't even entertain the idea that he was dirty in any way.  Simmons reaction to it was changing the subject.
