Jake Rudock vs. Michigan -- Every Snap
Finally got this thing done after a week or so of looking around for the Michigan-Iowa 2013 game.
Rudock was 19 for 30 with 239 yards at 8 yards per completion. He threw 2 TDs and 3 INTs. Brought Iowa back from a 21-7 halftime deficit.
Some drives are pretty funny on here. There are parts where Rudock throws once on one offensive drive for Iowa and several drives in the game where Iowa ran three times and punted because Kirk Ferentz.
LOL can we just delete the last bar. Just a bit anticlimatic?
I am not sure how to feel after watching the very first snap...
under much less pressure than Rudock faced on that play. So you should feel super awesome. QED.
If I had to choose between a future in which our QB had a good-but-not-spectacular career at Michigan and went on to a Hall of Fame career in the NFL and one in which our QB had a spectacular career at Michigan and a mediocre career in the NFL, I think I would choose the latter.
Brady was very, very good his senior year. 63% completion for 2,586 yards, 20 TDs and 6 picks. He put up those stats while not playing the second quarter of several games, and missing the second half twice (thanks to the QB rotation), so it was basically the equivalent of only about nine games.
That's kind of similar to Rudock's numbers

Thanks a lot, Carr.
He HAS thrown a touchdown pass to a Michigan player!
Who negs this? I thought it was a brilliant spin...kudos jtf.
You should feel like Rudock is destined to throw touchdowns to Michigan players.
Our offense was so bad that day, Rudock was our best player. I don't think we cracked 100 yards passing.
Rudock improved a lot statistically last year as compared to 2013.
Michigan had a whopping 6 yards of offense in the 3rd quarter so yeah, not good.
Thankfully I got to skip through all Michigan offensive plays when cutting the video up.
One of those games that you walk away from wondering what the hell you just watched. Ended on that horrible fumble. Me thinks it inspired the shirt...
against our most hated rival, and a pretty dang good football team. Very confusing, indeed.
It's a weird feeling to look at this tape hoping he looked great, despite knowing it was against my own team.
Thanks for the memories.
In all seriousness I will always remember this game as the game in which I realized I had lost my will to care. When Gardner fumbled at the end I basically shrugged my shoulders.
I caught myself giggling honestly. Never would have expected a reaction like that, and I felt bad afterwards, but still.
I think we have enough now (Rudock included)
Jake MF Ryan...
I miss JMFR already.
Well, that first play is a bit disconcerting.
I think that game was the coldest in Iowa Football history.
It was torture just being there.
Because as I'm watching it, I find myself rooting for Jake Rudock, and rooting against Michigan.

Now you can root for BOTH Rudock AND Michigan!
i already miss jake ryan.
i'm not sure that any other qb on the team makes that pass on the second play...the defense was tight and he slipped that in there perfectly.
Seriously, are we not doing phrasing any more?
I like how he looked. You have a nice running game (looking at you Ty Isaac) and he can do a good job on play action and hit some good passes.
1) Played within the system, and was obviously comfortable with hitting his TEs and WRs. Should fit Harbaugh's system well.
2) Made some mistakes--bad throws, bad reads. Not turrible, but enough to drive you crazy. His #s suggest he's more careful with the ball, but they may be a bit misleading, perhaps because he was in such a "safe" offense. #FerentzBall.
3) He's not dilithium, but he can scoot fairly well and had good judgment on when to pull it down and run.
4) As everyone's said, a solid B1G QB, which raises the floor significantly. Very glad to have him coming.
but I wasn't looking for inspiring. I was just looking for someone who doesn't make me cry. Apart from that way-ugly interception around the 3:24 mark, I didn't want to weep. He was often getting broken in half just as he delivered the ball, so I give the guy some toughness points. Ball floats but, hey, pretty damn catchable for our receivers who can't handle Shane's fastballs.
He'll do.
Rudock and Morris in summer camp should be epic! I bet we get a serviceable QB out of it and a great backup QB!
so epic
Nice job putting this together, WD. Thanks for the effort.
Like Sopwith said, he'll do. He's got a decent arm and can hit what he's throwing at, he's got some escapability, and looks like he knows how to manage a game. He isn't going to set the world on fire, but he doesn't look like the type to accidentally burn his own house down, either.
The best thing is that he raises the level of competition for the position. He's an open challenge to Morris, Speight, Malzone, or anyone else: Now you know where the bar is set. You want to play? Fine - then play better than this.

Jake Ruddock wiil not beat out Shane Morris.

Judging ANY QB on one throw is ridiculous. Yeah, two-years ago he made a terrible decision on a play where a defender came completely free and was going to sack him on the 1 yard-line. It's ONE terrible play. That doesn't mean he is somehow a useless QB.

you did catch the part where this was a 2013 game, right? He was a sophomore, and stats suggest we are getting a much improved QB who takes better care of the ball. Also, our D was beating the crap out of him in this game, and forced a couple of those.
Do you realize this game was from 2013?
Look at his stats last year, 2014.
