Jahvid Best Back/Head injury

When everything seems wrong, injuries like the one suffered by Jahvid Best bring everything into perspective. I fear the worst for this kid. Send up your prayers everyone.

He had a mild concussion last week. If he had one this week, it's a major one and it's going to end his season.

After he lands on the ground you can see how his arms are stuck in a fully extended position. The more general term is abnormal posturing. Decerebrate refers to extension of the arms (or legs). It's a sign of a pretty damn serious brain/cord injury.

Thanks for the info. I've seen that arm and leg extension two other times this year (UDub vs. ND and Iowa vs. MSU) and I can't ever remember seeing it before.

Wow. Thanks for posting that. This is a situation where being an athletic freak may have been a bad thing. Being able to get that much hops is great most of the time, unless you get hit in the air and fall in a way that you weren't expecting. I hope he's alright.

They just announced on the game broadcast that Best has a concussion and feeling in all his extremities. Very good news given how serious the injury could have been.
